Re: WOKJ 100 Best Directors: Complete!
If we could think of a better constructive list, kypade, I'd be all for it.
I think cinematography could be cool.
Worst studio releases would definitely be fun if only for the fact that I wouldn't have to be the one bitching about inclusions!

I just find it hard to get excited about five hours of "ceremony" where every post is some terrible movie. Like...Ok, yeah, these movies suck. And one is the twenty-third worst, the next is the twenty-first. Thanks for the info. I'm lying. I don't care or want or need that info.

Ill take it a top Dystopian/Apocalypse movies list wouldn't have much support?
Surprised Yoshue hasn't suggested best Musicals yet.

Musicals might be too obvious
I'd be in for most overrated.

Yep. But it'll be hilarious to watch too. I can already guess a top 3: 1. Citizen Kane 2. 2001 3. Crash (hopefully) What about The Greatest "forgotten" (overlooked/underrated/whatever) movies?

Forgotten/overlooked sounds less volatile (and thus better), as long as we can set clear criteria for eligibility.

I'm with Yoshue on the overrated idea. Somebody will end up getting murdered.

Re: WOKJ 100 Best Directors: Complete!
I still think genres is the next logical step. Scenes, cinematography, score, etc all sound great, but I think they would be way too difficult (and diverse) to get any kind of consensus on. Besides, score would be too easy, as the top 15 would just be every movie Philip Glass has ever done. I agree with kypade in that worst movies would be pretty boring. Definitely something I couldn't get very in to, which is maybe a good thing for everyone else? Also, Michael Bay movies would eventually turn up, and then I'd have to kill a bitch. Foreign would be very, very interesting. It'd also be very difficult, and our voter pool would probably be like five people, if that. So, yeah... count my vote for genres as next. I'll be happy with whatever you guys decide though, naturally.

I also think 'genres' is the best option.
Trixster and I did a top 25 scores list already (with clips). That could give you an idea what to expect if such a poll is organized.

I'm down for genres next. Comedy seems a good choice.

Re: WOKJ 100 Best Directors: Complete!
OK if we do comedies, will it be funniest comedies or best comedies?
If I were to list the funniest comedies, there would be lots of Marx Brothers and Monty Python there, but if I were to list "best" comedies, it would be better made ones like Dr. Strangelove and Annie Hall.
I vote for funniest.

Re: WOKJ 100 Best Directors: Complete!
I'd rather do best myself. Though they kind of go hand in hand, with a little bit of differences. Like I think Groundhog Day is the best comedy, but I don't think it is the funniest, but that isn't to say it isn't extremely funny and wouldn't be in my top 5 regardless.

I just learned that if I had participated like I said I would have... Burton would have been 8th.

And the list would have been entirely invalid, instead of just mostly.

I say we just call it "Greatest Comedies" and leave it up to each person's own discretion to filter as they please. Personally, I'd like to see a nice mix of the funniest and the best.
