Well theres a big time overlap between Voltron and G-Force. Not only are they anime but the plots from both cartoons are exactly the same and the heroes are identical where there are 5 of them who happen to be teenagers

I noticed that.

I guess Disney is planning to come out first so that later everyone can say that fox ripped off g-force. Since there are so many anti fox websites like aicn and chud, it will be perfect for them to rip apart voltron and fox into shreds.

But if i am not mistaken disney's movie is an animated/cgi movie or maybe not. But what i don't understand is why is Jerry not focusing on Prince of Persia instead.

Doesnt having too many motion capture/ CGI animated films in 09 make it very generic? I mean you got Avatar/Justice League as motion capture while G-force,Monsters Vs as serious CGI animated flicks.

DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc., together with Paramount Pictures Corporation, a unit of Viacom Inc., announced today that Monsters vs. Aliens, DreamWorks Animation's first-ever film produced in stereoscopic 3-D technology, will be released into theatres on March 27, 2009. The film had been previously slated for its domestic release on May 15, 2009.

Avatar should now move up to May 15th, which is a better release date than Memorial Day.

Some other movie might take the spot. I think AVATAR will stick with that release date. Simply put it will be an event movie for the memorial weekend. It is so funny that movies are running away from it.

The word down from Chinatown is that a little film going by Justice League has taken that day so they're paving the way for the the film that will occupy the most of the 2009 domestic gross...

AHA!! Good stuff.

Well AVATAR is reportedly groundbreaking movie in terms of visuals and stuff so i guess it should be able to handle the competiton.

Good move for Monsters - gives it a chance to cash in early on all the digital/motion capture hype.

But Im also concerned that 09 is littered with this new visual style and it will get old before even beginning. I guess Beowulf will kind of be a test to see if audiences will be receptive.

All the better chance that Prince of Persia will rule the summer.

my thoughts exactly. While the new visual styles and motion captures are cool, it can get overbundant if you cram it all in one season

Thats right. Its like if we saw the release of 3 or 4 CGI animated films in 1995 - it would have got old quick. Instead we got one film (Toy Story) and didnt see another till 1998.

From BOM:

Amusement Picturehouse 4/25/08 3/28/08
Run, Fat Boy, Run Picturehouse 3/28/08 10/26/07
The Great Debaters MGM (Weinstein) 12/25/07 New
The Bucket List Warner Bros. 12/25/07 12/21/07
Big Stan Yari Film Group 4/25/08 4/4/08
Christmas in Wonderland Yari Film Group 11/21/07 New

Run has had a good run in U.K., so understandable Picturehouse dumped Amusement to the dreaded last weekend of April. Yari is another studio with no box office power. Warner Bros now put The Bucket List on the same date as what they had for Rumor Has It.

Though Bucket List is still limited isnt it?

Also not mentioned above is "Four Christmases" which gets a November 08 berth. I think it will be a sizeable hit.

Not sure about that Wolfman move. I think this film could do better in October/November than spring.

I just noticed this. This pisses me off immensely. I was so psyched for this film, and now it looks like it's gonna be shit.

Just because they moved it to march or april does not mean it is shit. Sometimes i think that movie fans who love internet to research movies and stuff are fools and have created this myths that bad movies come in this month blah blah blah

This is a MAJOR coup for the Dreamworks/Paramount gang. Really 2009 is virtually sequel free and though it looks great (ie. highly original) it still needs a couple of event sequels and Transformers will fit that perfectly. Two years is a good gap and its going to be huge thanks to its great word of mouth - especially among females. I see $350m minimum.

However, where does this leave Prince of Persia?? This is definitely a worthwhile pic and if made properly - we could have a POTC style hit on our hands. If its still coming sans Bay - then it should come out no earlier than 2 full weeks after Transformers.

G-Force has nothing to do with the old anime. The plot description is that they are using CGI animals and giving them voices. Once again I repeat Disney's G-Force is pretty much like KAngaroo Jack, Racing Stripes and Barnyard. Damn I swear people have me on ignore or something since I have repeated over again now. :nope:
That brings me back to Prince of Persia which they are unlikely abandoning for a kid's animal CGI movie

G-Force is going to be HUGE! $400m+ Everyone wants to see it just like the old anime!

;) hehe Roid totally agree - dont see it being anything major either. I dont think it will even hold on to the summer pole position.

Prince of Persia wont be abandoned - Bruckheimer doesnt need Bay for it - he'll most likely get another medium profile director to do it.

Thats much better for The Day the Earth Stood Still. It doesnt appear to be a summer type film.

Yeah. And it will greatly depend on how I Am Legend does this year.

LOl i just realized this comes around the same time as Angels and Demons AND Star Trek.

To me

I AM LEGEND = TDTESS
NATIONAL TREASURE 2 = ANGELS AND DEMONS

we have to see how those two movies do this year before we can predict next years.

As for Star Trek. Who cares???

Theres no reason to believe Star Trek will do 100 million. The last movie sucked so badly and I cant remember anytime where Star Trek even passed that mark. Just because its a restart doesnt mean it will expontially grow. Shows like Battle Star Galitica and Star Gate have pretty much filled up the Star Trek void. Also if Magnus tries to argue this point, try using it without using the words "hype" :grrr:
