Who's A More Talented Singer: Kristy Lee or Brooke?
This is a poll for those who watch American Idol. Feel free to explain.
Obviously, Kristy Lee is a far more advanced singer, showing a nice vocal range and good voice. I think if she applied herself to practicing her pitch (an easy fix) she'll turn into one of the better singers with a recording contract.

Not a big fan of either one, and wouldn't buy a CD of either.
But, if I was forced to pick, go with Brooke. She has a more seasoned image and at least has mediocre skills at playing a few instruments. Plus, she sings a style that suits me more.
But, again... I'm not sold on either. I was turned off of Brooke right away when she said she never watched an R Rated movie... I thought that was weird.

Hmm, well I think Kristy has a larger range than Brooke does, but she has also hit more bum notes.
I much prefer Kristy's tone to Brooke's as well, but that would be more of a personal taste thing.

Evidence: Brooke is still on the fucking show! Box office equals quality, too. That's evidence! Of course, anybody that knows anything about singing knows the truth, and that's that Kristy is a more skilled vocalist. I used to think that there wasn't a major difference, but Kristy showed that not to be the case and promptly blew anything that Brooke could ever hope to sing completely away.

The only reason she did not go home before this is the past 3 weeks she has mentioned god or jesus or the bible in the songs she choose. Last night: No god. No good. People realized that when she doesnt sing about worshiping fake things they finally saw that she has always fucking sucked.
Brooke don't need that shit to keep her in.
even though she is religious and all

Yeah Brooke is in a far better league than Kristy.
I'll have to say hi to Kristy next time she brings me my order when I go to a Denny's in Oregon

Re: Who's A More Talented Singer: Kristy Lee or Brooke?
I guess my question is that - hypothetically speaking - if only a few highly skilled and trained people can recognize that Kristy is a better vocalist, but the 99.9% of the "untrained and stupid" world uses other factors to determine the better singer, than is the vocal talent issue the least bit important? I think it's a moot point, regardless of how smart one person thinks he is.
My guess is that most people truly in the industry aren't agonizing over this issue at all, because it isn't one. Other factors are far more important in determining a good singer.
To me, I think that each one fits their genre well. Kristy speaks very well to the Country audience... she's attractive, blonde, likes horses, and has that country twang. From the little I know about Country music, that's most of the battle right there.
Brooke is going to play to her audience well... She's also attractive, has a Sheryl Crow type singer/songwriter vibe, and seems a little more mature. She'll never play well to the top 40 crowd, but could catch on in adult contemporary, depending on the quality of her CD, of course.
At the present time, clearly Brooke has the bigger fan base, because she has more people voting for her, and she'll have at least one more week of 30 million people watching her perform. So, she has a head start.
However, if both hone their image into the correct path, they'll do fine.
I would think that if somebody was truly in the industry and had superior knowledge, that's how they'd look at it, and they wouldn't focus on a small detail that is so meaningless in the end. It's about the total package.

It's about the total package. I've said that many times, so I get the feeling you don't retain information, or you don't read because you're too quick to bluster with an uninformed opinion. Brooke isn't a performer, either. (wooooooooo!) People aren't going to come see her trying to play her piano while singing safe material. Not enough people to sustain a career. There is no market for that kind of performer. If she was great, the market would make the exception, but she's not great. At ANY aspect. She's not a Sheryl Crow type of talent, either. Sheryl cut her teeth as a studio background singer for years, and established herself as a versatile singer and performer. That's hardly what Brooke White brings to the table. Brooke could latch onto a good song and make a hit of it. She's competent within her limits, and it's not like people in her league haven't become successful in the past. She definitely doesn't have to thick skin to survive, so success probably isn't in her future.

Re: Who's A More Talented Singer: Kristy Lee or Brooke?
Well neither of them are spectacular, but I like Brooke a lot better. I do think it probably takes a lot more skill to play a piano and sing at the same time. David Cook is better though.

I think that if anybody can make it to the top 6 of American Idol in a very competitive year, than there is CLEARLY a potential market out there for that singer. Any record exec that is worth his weight would have to realize that 30 million people watched this singer for 10 weeks, and they got millions and millions of votes. I don't care who it is, there is a potential market of people that would come to watch her play piano and to sustain a career. This always comes down to what they do with that potential audience.... what kind of record they make. I don't know anything about her songwriting ability, but if she has a halfway decent ability or nabs a few good songs written for her, anything can happen. The same goes for Kristy. This is why the talent level that you scrutinize constantly has very little effect. The fact that Kellie Pickler is selling more records than Fantasia and Ruben Studdard is proof of that.

Although I never liked Pickler either, but she's got the I'm a cutesy blonde with boobs thing going for her.

I did like Ruben, and I was the one guy that bought his post-Idol CD. I was also the one guy who bought Taylor's. But, the main point was that I think it would be a given that Ruben has infinitely more vocal talent than Kellie Pickler, but in the end it didn't matter in the least. Vocal talent is such a small part of the game, which is why I find this whole Kristy vs. Brooke debate to be very odd... especially from somebody that claims to have inside knowledge of the industry. It just doesn't matter for anything at all.

Why is Jason Castro still there by the way. I can't for the life of me figure out why people vote for him. I now feel bad, I haven't bought a CD of any idols even though I watched every season except last year and only started watching this season the last couple weeks. Anytime I walk into a store with intentions to buy a CD I always end up buying another Eric Clapton one somehow. Now who's to buy. I'm thinking maybe Chris Daughtry.

Kristy has more range than Brooke, but I think Brooke's voice is more interesting.

Why can we choose both? That's not a very good poll. That's like saying "Okay, you can vote for president, but you can only vote for two!!" Then again, Co-Presidents might work... they might work very well indeed...
It's off to the drawing board for me! Also, to the closest store that will sell me a drawing board!!

Sorry Mav, but there is a reason why Kristy was our choice for vote for the worst. Nuff said.

Kristy's voice is slightly better, but neither are close to great or spectacular, and if either get success it won't be because of their voice.
I like Brooke more because she feels genuine and has a unique look and sound. And I like Sheryl Crowe-ish singer songwriter music more than country.
Brooke performs better too IMO. Kristy just stands there.

I liked Castro very early on... he has a voice that goes down smoothly. However, now that all the screaming tweener girls jumped on my bandwagon, it's really tough to like him as much. I suddenly feel out of place. As for Idol CD's I've bought (actual store bought CDs): Ruben's first one - it was terrible All 3 of Kelly Clarkson's - All great, but I like her last the best. Daughtry - More for my better half, but it was one of the better ones Taylor Hicks - Great, another one of my favs Bo Bice's first one - I was one of the few that actually liked it. Elliot Yamin - I liked a couple of the songs, but overall it was very "meh". Never bought any from season 3 contestants or season 6
