The KJ TV Awards: DEADLINE FOR BALLOTS TONIGHT!!!
The time is now, KJ. The nominations for the 2007 KJ Television Awards are finally here. You guys sent in your nomination ballots, and the nominations are a result of your choices. There were no ties in the list of 20 categories, thanks to the newly introduced (to our TV awards, at least) passion voting system. The new system has allowed several newcomers into the nominations, while some older shows have been left in the dust. A few surprises here and there, but most of all, what KJ watches (and likes) is what you will find in the nominees.
First of all, the Hall of Fame category. Over the past two years, you have inducted “Friendsâ€Â, “Seinfeldâ€Â, “Buffy the Vampire Slayerâ€Â, “The X-Filesâ€Â, “The Moleâ€Â, and “Futurama†into the KJ Television Awards Hall of Fame. This year, the top two vote-getters ran away with the category. As in the last two years, the top two vote-getters will automatically be inducted, while the next five nominees will fight it out in the voting process (when you vote for the winners), with the winner joining the rest in the hall of fame. So, without further ado, the seventh and eighth inductees into the KJ Television Awards Hall of Fame:
-Arrested Development (2003-2006)
-Six Feet Under (2001-2005)

Well, that’s that! Hopefully there’s something there for everyone to be happy about. Now, beginning right now, send your list of winners per category (choose one winner per category) to me via PM. The deadline is Friday, July 27th, with the ceremony (hopefully) taking place on Sunday, July 29th. If there’s enough interest for an actual ceremony, I’ll do one. It won’t last more than an hour, hour and a half. I promise!
So, happy voting for winners, KJ!

Overall, great nominees. The only thing I'm disappointed with is the lack of Grey's Anatomy nominations, especially in Supporting Actress. But since it's an incredibly difficult category this year it's kind of acceptable I guess.

Thanks for all your hard work, X! One thing I see is that we are putting Creed Bratton as supporting? I thought he was a guest actor...
And congrats to Arrested Development and especially Six Feet Under for entering the Hall of Fame!!

Well, this year I went with five nominees per category (which everyone knows), whereas years past went from six to eight nominees per category. So, there were nominees that, with the right amount of "passion" voting, would've made it in, even with just one person's ballot. Including Grey's Anatomy in a number of categories, including Best Drama.
Also, the passion voting thing did put some in front of others, because many ballots went with choices that may not have gotten in without passion voting (Sarah Silverman, off the top of my head). All in all, I like the mix. Although, I was disappointed at the lack of supporting nods for Heroes. But, these things happen.
24 suffered the biggest, mainly due to the lackluster season. The only nomination goes to Jean Smart, in what was basically a continuation of Season 5 anyway.

Creed was on supporting for some, guest for others. I had decided in the other thread (although that's my fault, because I didn't put it in the main post) that Creed was supporting, despite The Office submitting him as a guest at the Emmys. In that case, a few said to just put him in supporting if he didn't belong in guest on their ballots, and I did that. I hope no one else minded.

Great nominees. Thanks for all the work, X, once again.
Love Six Feet and AD getting into the Hall of Fame. They were my top two picks.
Also love the love for Extras, Ugly Betty, the B&S actors, and Kathy Griffin.

I just thought that I'd personally thank thompsoncory, MovieGeek, Donnie Darko, jujubee, Chris, Archie Gates, trixster, Raffiki, yoshue, Jayhawk, Dkmuto, and Gullimont for sending their ballots to me. I know it sucks putting together a ballot, as opposed to just voting for winners, but without you guys, there wouldn't be a whole lot to vote for. Just my nomination ballot would've sucked. So, thanks again, guys and girls. I really appreciate the effort.

She was thisclose to a nomination. Maybe next year, if FNL picks up in popularity. I know I'm watching it, just based on the recognition it got on the ballots.

Quite happy not seeing Gray's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives here.
I thought for sure they would make it, which is one of the reasons why I didnt make my own ballot. The other reason is that I don't watch many shows.

Re: The KJ Television Awards: And the Nominees Are...
The seventh and eighth inductees into the KJ Television Awards Hall of Fame:
- Arrested Development (2003-2006)
- Six Feet Under (2001-2005) -->Very Nice. I'll get Once and Again in there if it's the last thing I'll do but both of these were among my top picks!
Excellence in a Single Episode, Comedy
-Desperate Housewives: “Bangâ€Â
-The Office: “The Jobâ€Â
-Scrubs: “My Musicalâ€Â
-Ugly Betty: “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tellâ€Â
-Weeds: “Pittsburghâ€Â
-->Very happy with these nominees. 3 of mine got in and the other two of mine were second Weeds and DH ones, so great to see some more variety.
Excellence in a Single Episode, Drama
-Brothers & Sisters: “Game Nightâ€Â
-Heroes: “Company Manâ€Â
-Lost: “Through the Looking Glassâ€Â
-Rescue Me: “Discoveryâ€Â
-Veronica Mars: “Spit & Eggsâ€Â
-->Again, I'm quite pleased. SOOOO happy my top Rescue Me and B&S episodes got in. I was hoping Lost would rally support for another episode since the finale was destined to be nominated in the special episode category but still happy to see it in. Like Comedy, 2-3 of my votes didn't get in but they were just more Rescue Me and Lost episodes, so no harm done as the diversity is really great.
Excellence in an Opening Sequence

-John Krasinski, “The Officeâ€Â
-Jeremy Piven, “Entourageâ€Â
-Rainn Wilson, “The Officeâ€Â
-->I can live with the Ugly Betty snubs but 3 noms for Office may be pushing it. But it aint too bad; without having watched the show I like 2 of them anyway
Excellence in a Supporting Role, Actor in a Drama
-Enrico Colantoni, “Veronica Marsâ€Â
-Henry Ian Cusick, “Lostâ€Â
-Michael Emerson, “Lostâ€Â
-Terry O’Quinn, “Lostâ€Â
-Matthew Rhys, “Brothers & Sistersâ€Â
-->4 of my 5 votes got in and my 5th one I didn't care for much anyway. So far best category!!! :D
Excellence in a Supporting Role, Actress in a Comedy
-Jenna Fischer, “The Officeâ€Â
-Melora Hardin, “The Officeâ€Â
-Ashley Jensen, “Extrasâ€Â
-Becki Newton, “Ugly Bettyâ€Â
-Elizabeth Perkins, “Weedsâ€Â
-->Don't mind no Vanessa Williams but would have liked to see Ana Ortiz. And again, The Office love is just too crazy.
Excellence in a Supporting Role, Actress in a Drama
-Rachel Griffiths, “Brothers & Sistersâ€Â
-Elizabeth Mitchell, “Lostâ€Â
-Sandra Oh, “Grey’s Anatomyâ€Â
-Hayden Panettiere, “Heroesâ€Â
-Callie Thorne, “Rescue Meâ€Â
-->Another category in which 4/5 of my votes got in, so I'm pleased. But I'm utterly shocked at the 5th nominee... CALLIE THORNE??? Holy cow. I didn't know she had the potential. The biggest Rescue Me supporter and I didn't even have her in my nominees. Thus far, the biggest (and best) surprise for me.

-Alec Baldwin, “30 Rockâ€Â
-Zach Braff, “Scrubsâ€Â
-Steve Carell, “The Officeâ€Â
-Ricky Gervais, “Extrasâ€Â
-James Roday, “Psychâ€Â
-->That last one kinda came out of nowhere but this was the only category (I think) that I couldn't fill out 5 nominees for, so it figures. Great for James
Excellence in a Lead Role, Actor in a Drama
-Kyle Chandler, “Friday Night Lightsâ€Â
-Matthew Fox, “Lostâ€Â
-Michael C. Hall, “Dexterâ€Â
-Denis Leary, “Rescue Meâ€Â
-Hugh Laurie, “Houseâ€Â
-->Another 4/5. Great nominations everyone!
Excellence in an Ensemble, Drama or Comedy
-Friday Night Lights
-Heroes
-Lost
-The Office
-Weeds
Excellence in a Dramatic Series
-Friday Night Lights
-Heroes
-Lost
-Rescue Me
-Veronica Mars
-->No Brothers and Sisters but I guess I'll live. Lost and Rescue Me are just about the 2 best things on TV last season, so I'm excited that everyone else also thought enough to get em both in.
Excellence in a Comedy Series
-It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
-The Office
-30 Rock
-Ugly Betty
-Weeds
-->wow, Housewives shut-out almost (cept for Felicity). I never would have guessed we had more Philadelphia fans than Housewives fans in here. The passion voting probably worked against DH.
Well, that’s that! Hopefully there’s something there for everyone to be happy about. Now, beginning right now, send your list of winners per category (choose one winner per category) to me via PM. So, happy voting for winners, KJ![/quote]
Great job X. And you're welcome for my submission. I may run the risk of sounding really geeky or retarded but I honestly get very excited about the putting together my nomination ballot. This year was especially hard for the Drama categories (Writing, Supp. Actor, Supp. Actress) but it was alot of fun.

Th biggest crime is not including Christopher Eccleston for guest actor category. He's miles ahead from everyone that got nominated. His invisible man was one of the highlights for Heroes. And I though Heroes would got more love.

Guest Star was a MASSIVE category for ballots. Massive. Seriously, if just one other person submitted a ballot with a few different names (than those nominated) for Guest Acting, a good portion of the current nominees in the category wouldn't have made it. Very big category indeed.
I already got seven votes so far, which is awesome. Keep them coming, guys and girls!
