THE BIG BANG THEORY is a comedy from the Emmy Award nominated Co-Creator and Executive Producer of "Two and a Half Men" Chuck Lorre, about brainy best friends Leonard (Johnny Galecki, "Roseanne") and Sheldon (Jim Parsons "Judging Amy"), who can tell you anything you want to know about quantum physics, but when it comes to dealing with everyday life here on earth they're lost in the cosmos. Neither fully understands that scientific principles don't always apply in matters of the heart - until they meet their sexy new neighbor Penny (Kaley Cuoco, "8 Simple Rules..."), a friendly screenwriter/waitress from the midwest who also happens to be newly single. CANE stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Jimmy Smits ("The West Wing") in an epic drama about the external rivalries and internal power struggles of a large Cuban-American family running an immensely successful rum and sugar business in South Florida. When the family patriarch, Pancho (Hector Elizondo, "Chicago Hope"), is offered a lucrative but questionable deal by his bitter adversary, the Samuels, to purchase thousands of acres of sugar fields, he's faced with a tough choice: Should he cash out of the sugar business and focus solely on rum, which would please his impulsive natural son, Frank (Nestor Carbonell, "Lost"), or protect the family legacy that he built from the ground up by not selling, and side with his adopted son, Alex (Smits), who mistrusts the Samuels and still sees value in sugar. SWINGTOWN (midseason), from the director of "Big Love" and "Rome," peeks into the shag-carpeted suburban homes of the 1970s to find couples reveling in the sexual and social revolution that introduced open marriages, women's liberation and challenged many conventional wisdoms. During this heady era of provocative change, Susan (Molly Parker, "Deadwood") and Bruce Miller (Jack Davenport, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest") move their family to an affluent Chicago suburb in search of a different sense of community, and they look forward to barbecues and get-togethers with their new neighbors, as well as a change of pace for their teenage daughter and pre-teen son. Enter Tom (Grant Show, "Melrose Place") and Trina (Lana Parrilla, "24") Decker, a striking, outgoing couple on the hunt who redefine the term "neighborhood watch." After a mind-blowing evening with them, Susan and Bruce realize that couples in this town share much more than recipes, local gossip and a view of Lake Michigan, and are worlds apart from their former conservative neighbors, Janet (Miriam Shor, "Big Day") and Roger (Josh Hopkins, "Brothers & Sisters") Thompson. KID NATION is a reality-based series in which 40 kids will have 40 days to build a new world - in a ghost town that died in the 19th Century. These kids, ages 8-15, will spend more than a month without their parents or modern comforts in Bonanza City, N.M., attempting to do what their forefathers could not - build a town that works. They will cook their own meals, clean their own outhouses, haul their own water and even run their own businesses - including the old town saloon (root beer only). They'll also create a real government - four kid leaders who will guide the group through their adventure, pass laws and set bedtimes. Through it all, they'll cope with regular childhood emotions and situations: homesickness, peer pressure and the urge to break every rule they've ever known. At the end of each episode, all 40 kids will gather at an old fashioned Town Hall meeting where they will debate the issues facing Bonanza City. They'll show wisdom beyond their years and the unflinching candor that only kids can exhibit. There are no eliminations on KID NATION - you only go home if you want to. And in every Town Hall meeting, kids may raise their hands and leave. Will they stick it out? In the end, will these kids prove to adults everywhere (and their own parents!) that they have the vision to build a better world than the pioneers who came before them? And just as importantly, will they come together as a cohesive unit, or will they abandon all responsibility and succumb to the childhood temptations that lead to round-the-clock chaos? POWER OF 10 polls thousands of people across the U.S. asking them, well, just about everything - from "What percentage of married Americans said they were virgins the day they got married?" to "What percentage of American's believe they are smarter than the president?" Each week, contestants must decide if they have their finger on the pulse of the American majority and can accurately predict the results of these nationwide surveys. With the first question worth $1,000 and only five questions to answer, each one increasing 10 times in value, contestants participate in a potentially lucrative game where they just might walk away with $10 million. The higher they are on the money ladder, the closer they must be to the actual statistic. The studio audience and a friend can help them, but the final answer is theirs. You know, after watching old geezers yak it up and become fertilizers right before our eyes in 60 Minutes, there's nothing better than getting to sing showtunes right after in Viva, Laughlin!

I quite enjoyed Viva, Blackpool! so I guess I'll try to catch Viva, Laughlin!

Hopefully it won't fail like Cop Rock.

Moonlight's plot sounds awfully familiar...

Thus far, no pilots sound incredibly appealing to me.

Swingtown and Cane seem kinda interesting.

Thank god How I Met Your Mother is coming back.

And I totally freaked out for a second when I didn't see Old Christine and (especially) The Amazing Race. At least they're coming back in midseason.

CBS' new pilots sound better than NBC's, but not as good as ABC's. Viva Laughlin and Swingtown sound the most interesting.

Swingtown I could take or leave. It all depends on the execution.

But Cane? Interesting? Really? I don't think I've ever read a more boring synopsis for a television show in my life.

Will the father sell the sugar cane fields and concentrate on his rum business? Will he keep the sugar cane fields and wait for sugar demand to return? Those are the questions no one in America will be asking when this show is axed after two episodes.

Still ticked off that Jericho wasn't picked up. They replaced with a terrible show in Kid Nation as well.

As for the new shows, Viva Laughlin sounds awful. A musical TV show. Yuck.

Cane also sounds deathly dull. Ditto for Swingtown.

Moonlight sounds somewhat interesting. Big Ban Theory doesn't sound terrible either.

I have a thing for cane cutting. And Cubans.

So I'll be asking those questions.

No, but really. Just seems like it could be an interesting family drama sort of thing.

Very smart on behalf of CBS. They have presented the best schedule so far... which isn't hard to do considering you're already the #1 network by a mile.

I probably wouldn't get caught up with CANE but I'm surprised that CBS has finally brought in a serialized drama that doesn't have some sci-fi hook. It's like a non-white version of Brothers and Sisters. I think it could actually do decent in the ratings but no more than 10-12 million (up against boston Legal and SVU). But also, aside from KID NATION seems like the most likely to bomb.

I'm a bit intrigued by Viva Laughlin and may check it out solely because of the convenient timeslot. I watch nothing during that hour on Sunday and so it might be the FIRST CBS show (outisde of early Survivor seasons) that I may actually watch.

The Big Bang Theory actually looks like it can work if it's able to survive DWTS. And who really cares about anything on Fridays anymore. No discussion needed there. funny how Moonlight and Medium will both be on Fridays.

I also think it was very smart to move Without a Trace back to Thursdays and Shrak to Sundays.

No question about it, CBS has #1 in the bag again for the 07-08 season.

Oh dear. Why oh why did they have to do this? I was ready to just up and quit on CBS after they cancelled Jericho, but now they're tempting me with Hugh Jackman, Madchen Amick, and Jack Davenport.... WHYYYY?

Gosh, I hate being unable to make myself "strike" against a network... But I can't resist at least checking out the pilots for Viva Laughlin and Swingtown.

I'm glad I stopped watching Jericho before it started getting good.

If there's a new show I'm interested in on this schedule, it's Viva Laughlin. A musical black comedy/drama with Hugh Jackman. It'll either be the best thing ever or the worst. Or somewhere in between.

Whoa, I'm actually impressed by those pilot choices. But knowing CBS, half of them will probably be terribly bland.

Moonlight does sound a bit familiar... It's such an odd choice of show for CBS to rip off too, when was the last time they went fantasy like that.

Hugh Jackman going to tv, Drew Carey, Big Bang Theory... me like.

They probably will be but at least it beats the average ABC series idea: 4 women sit around talking about their careers while their husbands wear sun dresses and frolic in the garden. I hope no ABC employee sees this or they might turn that into a real series.

Also, The Big Bang Theory sounds like it could potentially be funny. I always thought Kaley Cuoco was really funny on the late and missed (at least by me) 8 Simple Rules.

Apparently, Rob Thomas passed on Viva Laughlin. He's do or die with VM. Which actually makes me a bit sad, since I'm not very hopeful for VM.
