Housewives dropped again in viewers (25.3 million, I believe). While the ratings are phenomenal, I think it's business as usual with either CSI or American Idol taking the season again. Although, one must wonder if Idol will EVER drop in viewers.

Good ratings for the MLB playoff game between the NY Yankees and the LA Angels. Much higher than the playoffs usually get.
CBS has to be disappointed by the numbers for their BTK telefilm. No wonder since the thing was, for the most part, godawful.

DH dropped yet again, but considering the whole media baclkash against it, it should be expected. And it'll beat CSI for the week among Adults 18-49, so ABC could care less.
Nice for Baseball. Tonight's game should be even higher-rated.

Media backlash? I'm out of the loop on that, what are you referring to?

Well, not quite an all-out backlash, but the general consensus seems to be that the show is decreasing in quality, and the media recognizes this (See TV Gal's latest column or This editorial from USA Today). It's very simaler to the backlash that happened to Friends in it's second season.

I don't watch the show, but some girls in my class have been talking about it weirding them out in Season 2. Something about tieing up and hiding someone in a basement...

They always seem to make a movie about whatever current event they can exploit (see Elizabeth Smart, JonBenet Ramsay, Charles Manson, and now BTK).

I'll admit this season of Desperate Housewives hasn't been as good. Last night's was solid and the best of the season so far though.

It's going straight up against LOST. Expect it to be a tad lower than last season. I don't care if American Idol is #1 for the year as long as it doesn't shrink Lost's audience to a sub-20m viewers if until then it stays consistently over 20-21m viewers.
And yes, Desperate Housewives is sinking week after week and there is no evidence if it has leveled off from this past episode or not. Hopefully it has because otherwise the beginning of the season will have started a bit lower than how last season ended in the ratings (of course, excluding the usual season hihs of finales and premieres).
I think if the season remains at how it is and Lost keeps getting better, the castaways have a chance of out-delivering the houswives in the ratings at least for a week or so throughout the season!
Glad to see Grey's Anatomy already seeming to have leveled off and bounce a bit back.

CBS didn't make a Jacko movie but corporate partner E! Entertainment Television did. They even had reenactments of the trial daily separate from the telefilm they produced.

Comcast owns 2/3 of E! The rest is by Disney.
Viacom owns MTV, VH-1, CBS, UPN...

Oh, it's odd to have a single channel owned by two different companies like that.

I love the whole CSI/Without a Trace vibe I get from the Desperate Housewives/Grey's Anatomy combo. Grey will build up, and should soon be able to consistently grab a huge audience even when DH is in reruns. Wed, Thur, Sun are huge tv nights, it seems like Tuesday is just waiting for that big tv smash to come through.

Tuesday already has a pretty big hit in Fox's "House" which routinely gets in the top 15-20 every week. The season premiere even cracked the top 10. If it was on one of the big three it would be in the top 10 consistently.

And Commander in Chief also breaks the top 20 and they play right against each other don't they?
Tuesday is the most actively competitive week of the nigh for all the 4 main networks as opposed to domination by one network on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
