Awesome episode.

This link below is the main episode Fury is credited with writing, but he's also got a producer credit on four other episodes and I expect he has a hand in many of the episodes.

The episode was a bit slow moving until the last 15 minutes, where it really picked up. Jack and Wayne going stealth, and then that AWESOME TWIST. Total Keyzer Soze moment (sorry for those who haven't seen The Usual Suspects). Btw, I totally called that (look a couple pages back, in the spoiler tags).

You can tell in that clip that as soon as Henderson's name is mentioned, Logan gets quiet and his eyes start shifting. You wouldn't notice it at the time, but now - it's a complete giveaway. Great writing and great acting by Gregory Itzin. I wonder how they'll play this out for the rest of the season.

Wow, wouldn't say I didn't think about the possibility for a second, but probably only for a second before dismissing Logan being the mastermind. Incredible twist.

Haha, nice. I love Gregory Itzin.

Like Archie, my money was on Mike Novick. And, there was no way it was the Vice Prez. One guarantee with 24: it's never the obvious answer.

But...how much sense does the twist actually make? I suspect if I went back and watched the earlier episodes today the answer would be 'very little.'

Why not? It was explained earlier on that the original cover up was intended to start a war in Central Asia over oil interests.

SO Logan reinstated Jack to CTU in order to keep a close eye on him all along. It just so happens he caught Henderson (who escaped), Collette, and Bierko... now Logan is in full panic mode.

Hmm... do you guys think Logan was also involved in the events of Day Four... particularly the shooting down of Air Force One? How did Marwan know about the football and the DoD codes?

Interesting possibility. But I doubt even he is malicious enough to destroy the city of Los Angeles.

Logan took me by surprise, but was sure vice president is not the one. Especially after characters mentioned him as the one atleast three times. Not the way of 24, I suppose. :)

And the removal of Bill hurts more than death of Tony...gah, what's wrong with me??

Isn't it likely he had help inside the White House? It's hard to picture Logan strangling and hanging that man himself. He would need someone strong to help him. Who?

actually, they gave us a huge clue in episode 1 of this season. Why would Palmer call the President's wife about a matter of national security???? If it was about Walt he could've just told Logan himself. I don't think Walt knew though. Only Henderson seems to know how high up it is.

Good catch. Martha told Logan something along the lines... "Palmer called me to tell me something about a matter of national security... and YOU."

As far as Cummings and Nathanson, I think Henderson recruited them in order to do the "Patriot" things. Logan would know about them, but Cummings and Nathanson wouldn't know about Logan being involved.

kudos to a show that shows him as a baddie.

though reflecting back on all 16 episodes this season, things don't connect. each episode sounds cool but the overall development is making no sense to me.

did they fuck up in trying to add episode by episode twists?

oh yea .. i didn't catch episode 14. so is Tony dead for good?

The twist does help clear up one part that was almost spoiling the season for me because it was so stupid. No president is going to just negotiate with terrorists on his own over the phone without bringing in top advisors or experts or intelligence officials or some people like that. Mike being there wasn't enough, it just isn't something any president is going to do.

But now it makes a little sense.

72 More Hours for Jack Bauer
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=14029

24 star Kiefer Sutherland has signed a deal to stay with the Fox show for three more years, through May 2009, reports Variety.

As part of the pact, Sutherland will establish a production company on the 20th Century Fox lot to produce series programming for both broadcast and cable networks.

The deal makes Sutherland one of the highest-paid drama actors on television.

Sutherland, currently co-executive producer on 24, will be bumped up to executive producer for the upcoming sixth and seven seasons of the show. He shares that title with creators Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, as well as Howard Gordon and Evan Katz.

Finally, while the deal with Fox is for TV only, Sutherland said he and the show's producers continue to believe in the idea of bringing the 24 franchise to the big screen. The earliest the movie would begin shooting, however, is late spring 2007, Sutherland said.

Quality control is the chief reason a 24 feature couldn't shoot during the upcoming hiatus, Sutherland added.

"It was really Joel and Bob and Howard realizing that if we were going to squeeze it in during the break, we would have been rushing it," he said. "If we were going to do it, we would do it next summer. It's still a big 'if.' We would not go forward unless we thought we could do it right."

The film likely would depart from the series by condensing an entire day into about two hours, rather than unfolding in real time.

Sutherland isn't shooting a feature this hiatus in anticipation of working on a 24 film next summer.

So 24 will be on at least until season/day 8.

I don't know if I'm THAT excited since what they would be doing would be topping every season, ultimately compromising their creativity and control. Though I'll still be watching regardless of any creative/critical slump.

Meh...I don't know. As good as "24" may be, but how often can Bauer save people within 24 hours? Soon the series will have more seasons than there are James Bond movies in existance...

A "24" movie has my interest, though.

Interesting enough the article doesnt mention the possibility of the SWAT spin-off or CTU in other cities. In theory, the show could leave the Los Angeles setting and still have Bauer as the lead character. That would be a great way to keep it fresh.

Location change would be very good.

How many more threats can L.A. get? Hehe.

on second thought, changing cities is the only way to keep 24 fresh. They've basically given themselves an out by killing off 99% of the LA cast.

so .. i've never seen jack stop to take a leak. i think they can add freshness to the show by adding realistic elements.

hour 2: Jack walks into McD to eat. episode ends with Bauer wanting to take a shit with no bathroom nearby

Jack has only fallen asleep once or twice. I remember him snoozing at a stoplight. Funny stuff.

So tonight's episode, supposedly Audrey stops to pump gas.

No kidding. It's important to the plot as well.

Dammit Audrey, use the ethanol, not the diesel.
I'm trying Jack. Here let me put Chloe on the line
Jack! Homeland Security is forcing us to use diesel!
Then go around Homeland Security, go directly to Exxon
Okay, hacking into Exxon right now, hold on.
