This episode was weird.

It was funny in places (the George Clonney smug was a gem), but overall, the smug idea was just weird.

Cartman and Kyle are at war over the popular cartoon, Family Guy. Kyle loves it and hates Cartman. The boys embark upon a cross country chase and the fate of Family Guy lies with the first boy to reach Hollywood.

I suspect Mattt and Trey will not have nice things to say about Family Guy. And I base that solely on my speculation that Matt and Trey have reasonably good taste.

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have expressed their discontent at being put at the same comedic level as Family Guy. When questioned about the meanest thing anyone ever said to them, Stone replied "When people say to me, 'God, you guys have one of the best shows on television. You and Family Guy.' That f*cking hurts so bad", to which Parker agreed: "Very well said. It's such a kick in the balls."

Well that was disappointing. Just was not funny. They seemed to be going back and forth on their opinion of FG. I thought it was funnier when The Simpsons did there 20 second FG plagiarism joke than the SP interchangable non-plot entire episode FG joke.

one of the lamest South Park's ever. Using Family Guy was so stupid and unneeded. It was funny when they mocked the Simpsons being on forever, but this sucked. Sure part 2 won't be that great either. Shame, there were 2 good episodes in a row.

Well I gotta disagree, wasnt laugh out loud funny, but it was a great episode.

I dont know how many people know this but I heard that a writer for Family Guy was actually the writer for the movie The Ringer, which is the movie everyone accused of copying South Park then the people involved in Ringer came back and said South Park was the one that copied them.

"Or will Comedy Central puss out?"

Love how Parker & Stone used Cartman as themselves, saying how they're nothing like Family Guy.

Isn't it repeated 14 times a week on COMEDY CENTRAL.

I quite enjoyed it. The big wheel chase, head in the sand, FG jokes, good stuff.

I completely agree.

I thought it was interesting when they said that once one episode of a show is pulled due to pressure, it's all downhill from there.

I just caught the rerun, and also thought it was really, really funny. "How would you like it, Kyle, if there was a cartoon that constantly made fun of the Jews?" HAHAHA.

The clip package for 'next week's' (Man, I hope its real) was classic South Park.

The preview for "next week" was the only good part of this episode.

Whatever the 'secret of the Family Guy writers" is, we know that it
a) Renders them more powerful decision makers than The President of FOX and Dubya
b) Makes complete sense to Cartman; "This explains everything."

Hmmm...I'm reasonably convinced that the Family Guy writers secret will be....that they're all Jewish!

I thought the whole 'next week on SOUTH PARK' was making fun of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT.

They pegged family guy right on the money. I thought I was watching an actual Family Guy episode when they were watching it in South Park! Like that time I thought I was watching The Cosby Show when I was watching Cosby.

Good theory, but I'm pretty sure that the writers are crab people. ;)

Plot

My brother is predicting that the writers of the shows are crab people. They are trying to take over the world by having everyone's head in sand so that they don't suspect anything. He thinks the guy telling people to put their heads in sand was a crab person disguised as a scientist. Hence the line "puss out" at the end.

Let's see if were right.

Wait, I've been thinking about it.

Replace Islam with Scientology, Fox with Comedy Central, Family Guy with South Park, and Cartman trying to take Family Guy off the air with Tom Cruise trying to take South Park off the air, and you get.....

There was that part where they said the FG writters were demanding not to be censored as they were Fox’s most popular show (obviously not true, but SP is more important for CC). Then that guy made that speech about risking everything for free speech. Plus, it's simple TV economics, SP must fight back since it's the beginning of the end if an episode is pulled!

"Will TV executives fight for free speech, or will Comedy Central puss out?"

Are Matt and Trey fighting to have another Scientology episode? Could the FG writters be servants of Xenu? In an evil alliance with Tom Cruise? Part of a gallactic struggle over the fate of the thetans that suck the life out of us? Or, will CC puss out?

Tonight on South Park.....

Another lame episode. Seriously...manatee? I enjoyed the Bart Simpson reference, and the slap fight...but Family Guy is much funnier. It'll be good to see them get off the subject of Family Guy next week.

I thought this had one of the most unpredictable endings.

That ending was f---ed up, but funny.

Overall, I thought it was better than the last one.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 01002.html

Quote:
Banned by Comedy Central from showing an image of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, the creators of "South Park" skewered their own network for hypocrisy in the cartoon's most recent episode.

The comedy - in an episode aired during Holy Week for Christians - instead featured an image of Jesus Christ defecating on President Bush and the American flag.

In an elaborately constructed two-part episode of their Peabody Award-winning cartoon, "South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker intended to comment on the controversy created by a Danish newspaper's publishing of caricatures of Muhammad. Muslims consider any physical representation of their prophet to be blasphemous.

When the cartoons were reprinted in newspapers worldwide in January and February, it sparked a wave of protests primarily in Islamic countries.

Parker and Stone were angered when told by Comedy Central several weeks ago that they could not run an image of Muhammad, according to a person close to the show who didn't want to be identified because of the issue's sensitivity.

The network's decision was made over concerns for public safety, the person said.

Comedy Central said in a statement issued Thursday: "In light of recent world events, we feel we made the right decision." Its executives would not comment further.

The plot thickens...
