The first time I saw Penny in the season 2 finale, I thought it was Meredith from Grey's Anatomy. But then we got a closer look.

Downloaded it this morning, I'll post my thoughts later today. Sounds like an interesting episode.

Can someone explain to me how the hell could Sayid be THAT stupid?
I wouldn't exactly think Sayid would be that stupid, I mean i think he knew what he was doing . . . He told her repeatedly where the gun was hidden when she would not listen. Then, after the yacht was nicked and he had conveniently missed with every rifle shot, "oh well, lets just walk back to our camp".
He knew what he was doing, he knew they would want the boat, and he's probably bugged the boat with some device to track it so that he knows exactly where they're going.
Or lets hopeso

Dr Malcom wrote: That was why I loved when Sun killed that bitch. I was seething with anger with the "you're not a killer" crap and then she uses Sun's fill name. In that situation, even if it was just to make a point that you don't know me, I would do something that I don't normally do. Something that is completley out of character. For Sun, that is shooting that bitch dead. For me it would probably be kindly surrendering (and now that I think about it more, it sucks for me...).
The funny thing is, doesn't that make the pregnant, once-obedient Korean wife the first survivor to actually take out an Other, other than Charlie pumping Ethan full of bullets? What does that say about the men on the island?
And Nebs, I think they've made it obvious the Others have been trying to play the Losties all along, no?

Uh...in that case he would not leave Sun on the boat if he just wanted the Others to get the boar. And I doubt he can build some sort of a tracking device on the island, heh.

Jon, those Others Eko and Jin encountered obviously haven't known about them, yet wondered like that through the forest. Having a kid along as well. Don't see much sense for them to be 'in character' absolutelly whole time.
Plus, you've seen their 'catlike agility' and their slow silent walk, same people that probably killed Steve/Sean/whatever the name, and that took Cindy without the sound...and now compare them to these new ones, from Sawyer fight and from boat fight. They got sloppy.

Or maybe the writers of the show got sloppy.

The Others don't make sense in the same way what killed the pilot isn't possibly be the same thing Locke met.

When are the polar bears coming back? Or the big gigantic pilot eating dinosaurs?
I liked Lost when it had a more sci-fi vibe to it. Now it feels like I'm watching a prisoner of war drama. Every season they end up introducing a new "tribe" (tailies, others) and then Tribe A captures a member from Tribe B and holds them prisoner, tortures them for a while, and then we start over again.
I don't want to see that... I want to see somebody wrestle a polar bear!
Anyhow, I pretty much quit watching this season. My wife still watches, so I catch parts here and there, but I just don't care anymore.

So I watched the first episode by torrent, was on vacation when it aired...
I actually liked it a lot. Simple character building episode, not looking at the entire web of Lost questions, just making things simple. I loved the 2nd season but I think that simplicity of dealing with the people themselves, was one thing that was missing. Jack's flashback was one of his best too.
As for the questions they did tackle... The episode was very mysterious IMO, from the opening to the breakfast to the book chronicling Jack. I have one random theory that just popped into my head while watching it, that the Lost island may be in the future. That would explain the documents of Jack, because really could it be information decades or centuries in the past? Dunno.

Hey tonymontana that's exactly the way i feel man. I really missed that sci-fi vibe the show had. Hell remember all the topics about time-travel and limbo-like dimensions thrown in with dinosaurs-Creatures and "super" Others back in 2004 the first season. Those were great times. I still watch lost though. I havent missed one episode yet, so i havent given up on the show. I just dont like the direction their taking, Especially with the others. I woulndt be surprised if the show keeps losing viewers around 10 million or under if the witers decide to go back to the sci-fi vibe from early season 1 but at that time it might be just too late.

Very well said... the discussions and theorizing was much more fun back in season 1.
However, I must say I'm intrigued by this gigantic fake boob angle the show may be undertaking (per Korrgan).

Ok episode, liked the premiere more.
Was really pissed off by the ending though, the Others having contact with the real world and knowing they can go back... kind of ruins a lot of the mystery for me. I'd like to think the Island is in isolation, it's part of the mystique that noone can find it. This is just... meh.

Ben (Henry Gale) could have just been lying about contacting the outside world. Wouldn't be the first time he lied.

With the amount of technology and advanced science on that island, not to mention generally insane shit, how hard would it have been for Henry to fake that tv broadcast. Given the circumstances, Jack caved too quickly.

Maybe the Others actually rigged the entire World Series, for the Red Sox to win. It's been a sham this whole time! Touché, Lost writers.

I sooo can't wait for tonight's "Lost"- with the return of my three favorite characters- Locke, Eko, and Desmond! I'm really liking the direction this season is taking so far, especially with last week's awesome ending- one of the best scenes ever on this show, IMO.

Was the guy at the end of the table when Locke was eating dinner, with the red shirt and talked about Eddies shirt, was he one of the others?

This was the best episode of this season so far. I really respected Locke a lot more in this one. It looks like the leadership role will be going with him. I think between him, Eko, Desmond and Sayid they can find Jack, Kate and Sawyer. It also looks like Desmond can see into the future now.

Pretty good episode. Loved the hallucination with Boone, as well as Locke in the wheelchair seeing the castaways in the airport doing their thing. Great ending- can Desmond see into the future or are Locke, Eko, and Desmond telepathically linked? Oooooo...
Next week looks INTENSE...

You know you might be right, I didn't think of the linked part. I loved the Boone hallucination too that was great, especially with all the major castaways being in it.
