Yeah, well, Canada doesn't have a legacy of Southern Redeemerism that historically underfunded education and other public goods to a) fruitlessly attract Northern capital, b) considered public spending an indulgence of Reconstruction.

Hopefully, with a national education system, we wouldn't have idiots running school boards who have no educational background and are only there to make sure the schools don't teach the kids evolution or "non-Christian values."

This is the exact reason why I do not support state runned education systems. Financially it makes a whole lot of sense, but it would lead states like Kansas to start pushing creationism into their schools, which for someone from Lawrence, Kansas, that idea horrifies me.

Now it makes sense...

Looking from a Canadian perspective a National Education System makes no sense.

However in America it would lead to widely different education systems..


Nonetheless the current system is a failure as well.

The federal govt and the state govts are creating trillions in debt each year, yet so much still has to be fixed.

The obvious answer is to raise taxes and cut useless spending.
Meaning short term gain for long term benefit...

However doubt that would ever pass.
