I can see you guys are sad and upset about his failures and that is our generation's Jimmy Carter.

You have given no response over way he displays such weak leadership and how he really has no real plans to solve the nation's pressing problems. I will add the Republicans are not much better.


I just think its silly to say Obama is not to blame as the Republicans are all at fault and vice versa. Its hyper partisan and serves no purpose.

Yes, I am from Canada but your country's failure is really impacting Canada negatively.

I am happy with him as a President and what he has done so far. And CANADA is really impacting CANADA negatively. It's fucking CANADA. Get over yourself. Worry about your own damn country.

Frankly many in the US think we are a bunch of socialists but the Canadian govt has acted far more cautiously and conservatively then you guys for over a decade now.

We are doing really well fundamentally.

Its just that 80% of our trade is with you guys.

Maybe what our leaders can do is trade more with China?

Well Canada is a good history lesson. In 1992 Canada lost its AAA credit rating and Debt to GDP reached over 80%.

For many years we avoided austerity measures as we thought we needed to first spend our way out of recession and that the debt problem could be solved without increasing taxes.

In the end the debt problem was solved with severe spending cuts in 1995 and through a new Goods and sales tax of 7%. They were very unpopular measures however by 1997, the country went out of debt and had 10 years of Surplus. There is deficits today but are very manageable.

Also I will remind you we have had our Bush style tax cuts that have mostly benefited the rich.


Even so what is going on the US makes our head spin. The current deficit this year is larger than the GDP of the entire Canadian economy.

Canada is not the USA.

frankly the big thing happened with the Bush tax cuts.

They would have worked if the economy continued going strong and there were no long wars and hurricanes.

Canada never faced such problems.

So you are right, but my point is you cannot ignore the debt problem and simply increasing taxes will not help, you need to also cut spending.
Obama's plan appears to be, continue massive spending and then fund it through massive tax increases in the future. No wonder the business community is holding off investment in the US.

No. I think she too often speaks without thinking. I may agree with a lot or her posistions but dislike her delivery and the fact that she turns more off then she persuades. Don't like Bachmann either for similar, but less drastic, reasons.

If it's really down to Perry, Bach and Rom then I'm voting for Rom.

Mitt Romney is the only serious conservative left in the US it feels like. Everyone else has their heads up their asses so much it makes my head spin as to way people take them and their ill-thought out, cartoonish partisanship seriously. Even Ron Paul, who has some great ideas, has become a bit of a caricature.

At this point, re-electing Obama should be the bare minimum goal of the Democrats. Controlling both houses of Congress, and getting people to sign Grover Norquist style pledges to create clean energy legislation and to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan once and for all would be ideal. I'd be down for broad immigration legislation but Obama's pretty frightening conservative in that department so I'd rather he not.
