And, before anyone brings it up, I did apologize publicly to imtim for my comment, which I still feel was justified, as the online persona that individual has made up is clearly meant to annoy and frustrate, which imtim has done. In fact, I started a whole thread to apologize, so this is not hypocrasy.

Thanks Box for bringing this up, help from our members in identifying possible problems are helpful and needed. I appreciate you voicing your concerns here instead of directly responding to the comments in question.

In this case however a warning will not be issued.

Ahmed was joking around, and while joking manner does not in any way allow abrasive comments toward others, these comments in particular I do not find as a warnable offense.

Sometimes things are said by people, and about people that you may not like. This is one of those cases. The comments will be removed, and I will be PM'ing Ahmed asking him to be more careful in the future, but no warning will be issued in this matter.

Exactly. Ahmed is always keeping things in good humor, never being a little pissy... Anyways, point is, I don't think Ahmed is really doing anything that bad. A bit sketchy, maybe, but if we really punished him for anything it'd be going too far in my opinion.

As i noted earlier. Ahmed will not be punished, but the comments have been edited, and I have PM'd him asking him to be more mindful of swearing directed at others.

It is important even when joking to make sure the person you are joking with will not be offended.

Being rude is being rude. Who care's if its in good humor? I'm not trying to validate my comments at all. And I don't have a thing against Ahmed. But I don't see ANY difference.

Seriously, good-natured or not, box was (apparently) offended by the comments enough to report said comments. Which means, whether Ahmed was joking or not, Box didn't get the joke as Ahmed intended.

I don't know, I still think that Ahmed is joking around and being upfront, it's a lot better then going into a conversation thread and saying comments you think people won't see where you call them "egotistical pricks".

It is worth looking at and is a totally valid complaint.

At this time however I do not feel it deserves a warning. I have PM'd Ahmed and asked him to be more careful with comments like these, because in the next instance, if the same thing happens, he may be warned.

The comments were erased, and the matter is done for now. If it shows to be a recurring problem we will visit it again.

I try to take every issue on a case by case basis, I think in the context these comments were just not meant to offend in the way they did, while that in no way makes them right or acceptable, I also feel that a warning is not in the best interest of the site at this time.

I hope this clears things up.

Regardless Ahmed, you need to be more careful about what you say and to whom. If it offends them, then I need to look into it.

If I had personally seen the comments, the action would have been the same, you would have recieved a PM from me and the comments would have been edited. I did not see the comments myself.

To many posts occur each day, I rely on people to come to me when they have an issue, box's way of handling this matter was correct.
