 BallotPM
Seriously, can we like temporarily disband this account?
I mean it was great during the poster awards because it did allow for a central location for ballots.
However once two certain forum members were given free reign of the account it became a soap box for abuse. Sure, I don't mind profanity laced PM's, but some people could easily have gotten offended. Add that to the personal attacks, which while done in gest were extremely annoying.
One only need look at the last few pages of the MPA Awards thread to see that whoever was logged in to the account decided it would be funny to post endlessly. The first time it might have been a mistake. The second, third, fourth and fifth time it was obvious what was happening.
I just think this account is a free ride for abuse, and while I have nothing against the two posters who generally post under the account I think they have gotten completely out of hand.
And I'm not the only one who feels this way either.
Thank you.

I agree, those posts at the end of the awards ruined them to me and made the awards feel like a joke rather than something 100something ppl contributed to.

Actually, I don't think BallotPM will be used for almost another year anyway, since we don't seem to have a lot coming up.
Oh and from what I know, the huge long "boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" posts etc. were actually not deliberate but a malfunction of a keyboard.

Seriously, what the heck just happened?
I just needed to check the awards, I had to sift through all those stacks of quotes!
And how did Sommie get involved in all this? lol

Three of us (Sommie, Lecter, and I - Lecter and I behind the BallotPM account, Sommie doing his own thing...) decided to try and "crash" the site once BBM was announced. It worked when I wrote "boooo" (keyboard thing - honestly - and, yeah, I think that's what crashed the site).
Complain, criticize us, whatever. I understand. If you want to know what was going through our heads:
1. It was "funny," to us at least (not to you all), to try and crash the board right after the final award.
2. We wouldn't have to hear the complaining ("OMG WHY DIDN'T MUNICH WIN").
3. We could put an end to the BallotPM account without losing the BPM "touch."
4. It was reckless fun, as sommie put it. Yeah, it pissed you off, but it wasn't done with bad intentions (okay, okay, you guys will all come back and be like "it doesn't matter what kind of intentions you had because it still hurt!").
Additionally, Zingaling had nothing to do with this.
It was also my encouragement, too, that got Sommie and Lecter involved.
Sorry, guys
- Ross

I came down form the ceiling, like a ninja. I sat through the entire award show....nay, the entire nomination process, just clinging to the wall...
Watch out behind you the next time you turn on the light, I might just be there ready to pounce down and try to crash your computer.

Ross, you know I love you, but seriously... in what world would crashing the site be funny? I'm sure the people who put their personal money into the site wouldn't be too happy about that.

Wowzer... I agree with makeshift. Sabotaging the forums seems like a very odd choice for a "joke". I have a severely warped sense of humor, and even I don't get that one. It's a joke that can cost somebody a lot of time (and potentially money).

I think by "crashing" he meant made it the way that no one could load it for 2-3 minutes. Basically what happaned several times throughout the ceremony tonight anyway.

When you get a certain idea that cracks you and the first couple people you mention it to up, you don't always think about how it affects everyone else. That's not a justification, there. I'm not going to try and justify it...
...BUT, it wasn't exactly "crashing" as much as it was "keeping the forum down for five minutes." Like what happened earlier today or on Oscar night once Crash won BP. It's not unusual, it happens often when there's too many forum actions at the same time

Well, it's done and over with. Nothing terribly awful came from it besides the perfectly fucked ceremony thread, so hopefully nothing more comes of it tomorrow morning and we can just move on and get all geeked out for The Hills Have Eyes. I'm worried that the higher ups may be none too pleased, though.

I'm expecting one of 'dem "official" warnings I used to threaten Maverikk with every week.
I've PM'd Scott about the BPM account though. Once he's deleted (aka GONE), the thread will be clean and there might still be some conversation to be made tomorrow when the internationals/people-with-lives come to look at the winners. I hope.
