Re: BKB has been banned indefinitely
Korrgan had a banning coming for awhile. It wasn't just a one time thing.
I'm not unbanning her. If someone else wants to, fine. But I'm not taking responsibility for it.

Re: BKB has been banned indefinitely
I don't disagree with banning people. I don't disagree with banning Korrgan. I'm not stupid, I know she crossed the line multiple times.
I don't, however, agree with lifetime bannings. We're not running a prison system here. If the offending person returns and offends again, they get banned again. Maximum a month.
I also acknowledge that certain personalities are incredibly volatile and a poison to conversation.
But I'm also not a moderator, as I shouldn't be. Been there, done that, did a whole lot of stuff I never should have. Thankfully, it's all moot now over there at BOM!

It might be true in some cases, but not in all. Eagle's permanent ban on Harry Warden/Joe is perfectly understandable and no other course of action seemed more suited in this case. If people are not able OR not willing to comply with ANY kind of rules or EVER display social behavior long-term AND additionally resort to mean-spirited attacks on others...they don't belong in here. The thing with BKB is that, while he is stupid and annoying, I do not believe him to be mean-spirited...more like a WOKJ clown, yanno?

Re: BKB has been banned indefinitely
That said, BKB will be unbanned and put under observation (I trust trixtser with that and with informing me if any other serious offenses will occur).
Nonetheless, he will haven his posting privileges taken away for Cinemania and Box Office Bash for in indefinite period of time.
That is my decision on the case.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've ever read more than 20% of a BKB post in the 9 years I've been witness to him. That fucking font.
I see him as more of a cartoon than anything.

Re: BKB has been banned indefinitely
Korrgan's ban was not permanent, but she'd had multiple offenses and deserved to be gone for awhile.

Re: BKB has been banned indefinitely
Just a somewhat outsider's opinion as someone who is an irregular at this forum. But if anyone in the administration wants to know why this website has not seen any real, substantiated growth since it's inception, despite more than enough opportunities to grow, it is because of decisions like this.
We finally have a mod who has the balls to ban BKB, and now we're talking about unbanning him? Why? He's a 50 year old man, he isn't going to change his behavior. He is who he is. He might be good for a week, two weeks, or hell even a month. But the old BKB will be back.
There is a reason why he is banned at so many other websites, he is a nuisance that drives away irregular members/casual surfers who might otherwise be interested in participating in the forum. There are what, 20 very active members and the same amount of irregular members? And what, 1/3-1/2 of the members who frequent the Cinemania and Box Office Bash have him on ignore? So really what is the point? What exactly will unbanning him accomplish except more spam about Christopher Nolan/TDKR/The Avengers/whatever he is obsessing about at the moment?
The only way to grow a community is to allow free participation by those who are casually browsing the forums, and allowing him to act like that will not accomplish this goal. It will just lead to continued retraction of this community.

That's exactly what I'm saying.
You guys are acting like BKB is gonna magically start acting differently. He's always been this way. He'll continue to be this way.

Speevy is right, of course. When newcomers see this:

Re: BKB has been banned indefinitely
In other forums I've visited, mods often delete offending posts - - it'd be a big job with BKB, but it's an alternative to an outright ban.

Good, he was disgusting, I fully support Trixster in every ban he has issued, they were all a long time coming.

It will just lead to continued retraction of this community. This is why Eagle established a punishment system. If BKB continues to act the same way, he'll get banned eventually. He also had his posting privileges taken away from the Cinemania and Box Office Bash forums. I don't think this will be an issue at all in the future should he decide to come back.

His insults and degradation don't seem mean-spirited because they're so pathetic and naive, but that's only the case because of his inability to make them cruel. It's not for a lack of effort.

Re: BKB has been banned indefinitely
He should have been banned a long time ago given his behavior.
Some forums would indefinitely suspend someone for replying to a thread more than 48 hours old.
HIS posts would get him blacklisted from those boards permanently, without the remote possibility of returning.
Similar posters, like Kal from BOM, weren't half as bad and were banned forever.
People like BKB need to be made an example of.
