Good idea. I will look into that.

The hackers wouldn't be able to access your password, but it's never a bad idea to change your password periodically anyway.

He's not gone. He's one of the site's owners.

He's also just requested his name be changed to Anonymous, so...

He also said on BOM that maybe he should just post there, but both can probably be chalked up to Loyal's humor. Either way, I was just worried that he was pissed off.

Precisely. Before someone jumps down my throat (*coughbABAcough*), I don't care who posts where. But, I do care if someone stops posting here entirely. I just hope that's not the case.

Me! 17 post/day average is embassessing. :lol:

So, what do you need me to do to help out Krem, Eagle, whoever? I can't do too much in the next few weeks, but I can at least do a little, and then later I will be more free.

jujubee's IP idea was good, so, hopefully, we can restore most of the post count without manual intervention.

Whatever is the easiest/best resolution for this issue works for me. It's mind-numbing losing that many posts.

What a waste of your life!

A quick google search yields some "handy" info about g00ns.net.

They like to attack gaming-related forums. <----Particularly confusing, sicne this is primarily a movie-based forum, which also has a fairly small gaming forum.
I think they tend to go for phpBB, since I know that's one of the easier forum software packages to hack (as opposed to, say, SMF).
They revel in the "glory" of pissing people off. They like to hand out TeamSpeak IDs and invitations to their TeamSpeak channel and watch as everyone that they spent time out of their busy, valuable lives pissing off come in and vent their rage and frustration.
I *THINK* they might be mentally unstable.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. I see it this way:

if ( (poster_name == Anonymous) && (ip_number == Croatia))
poster_name = Nebs;
else

if ( (poster_name == Anonymous) && (ip_number == "where Krem lives"))
poster_name = Krem;

else

if (poster_name == Anonymous)
poster_name = Loyalfromlondon;

Of course, the first bug I can think of is that all the posts of any previously deleted accounts will be added to Loyal, but I think he's always posting from different places, so I couldn't think of a better algorithm :smile:

You can download the IP_number_ to_country table here.

And to get the IP number from an IP address you need to do the following:

Supppose the IP address is: a.b.c.d

Then the IP number is: (a * 256 * 256 *256) + (b * 256 * 256) + (c * 256) + d.

For the most part they also seem to be a fairly young crowd with no grasp of the legal implications. Heh.
