Post Why
...is this forum going so god damn slow randomly? One minute, it's fine. The next, I can't even get a page to load for a long, long time. And during the MPA's, it was ridiculous.

I've had these problems as well, though for me it seems to be working now.

It seems to depend on the nature of the request. When I tried to unsticky a thread or update the title of Yahoo thread, it would stuck at waiting state for a long time, and then everything else slowed down too. Probably have to do with the indexing of the database.

As far as I'm concerned it could be 2 things:

1) A problem with the database ... not optimized properly, or something of that nature ...

or

2) It could be one of the various mods we have installed hanging.

I'm really not sure but it annoys the fuck out of me and I do want to get it fixed.

Could it be the hover preview thingy (which I think most could live without)?

The hanging problem was around before that just not as bad. I'd say Eagle might be close with the Mod suggestion.

PHPBB 3 is currently in Beta 5, with the next release likely to be RC1 ... aka the first release candidate. I would guess it will go live in August or later ... I will probably port us over at RC2, which is likely to be in a month or three.

I will also be scaling down the board very soon ... and hope that will help. What I mean is ... going back to a VERY basic board, with very few mods. That will happen as soon as I get the design in working order and ready to go ... which will happen whenever I can find the time.

School is kicking my ass right now.

Scratch that.

Java 2 is kicking my ass right now. I think I spent 25 hours this weekend working on a program for that damn class, makes it hard because after staring at code for that long, I have no desire to go play with our design.

I hope I'll find some time soon.
