The pilot tested so well and couldn't find a network. Sounds super fishy, but add this to Lecter's list of sequels always on the off and on. I'm still down for it. It has to be R rated, and really amp it up again, otherwise it might not even outgross the third unadjusted.

Beverly Hills Cop IV will return to Detroit for filming, the Michigan Film Office reveals that the events in the upcoming fourth installment will take place during "the coldest winter on record."

According to the Office, Axel Foley who will be played once again by Eddie Murphy has been living a cushy life as a Beverly Hills Detective. He is back to Detroit during the coldest winter on record to navigate the new rules and old enemies in one of America's most tenacious cities.

Ah so the old "reverse fish out of water" comedy idea. I guess it will work better as Murphy is definitely not as raw as he once was, I just hope he gets sooner than later in the new one.

It has found its directors; Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah.

This will most likely bomb. The 80s resurgence has passed. We're in 90s mode now. Plus, the unnecessary sequels disappointing this year should have taught the studios a thing or two.

It could be good, perform decently too, let's say make $50mil. It's key to contain the budget though, but I don't see why they would need more than $15-$20mil. to make this anyway

With their choice in director(s), it looks as if they are trying to keep costs down.

This film does seem like quota-filling, though. A pointless sequel.

Audiences are fatigued on franchises and sequels right now. A sequel used to be quite the event, but now it seems every weekend has at least one sequel. Couple that with the ever-growing comic book franchises cluttering the box office and there's just too much clogging up theatres.

This could work in a different time (preferably at least ten years ago), but if this was made for a 2017 release, it will bomb.

Damn, you're right. I remember when I looked forward to a sequel. Now I groan at the thought.

I like that they're doing things in reverse (Beverly Hills Cop must navigate the mean streets of Detroit) because it's a great way for Eddie to make fun of his older/softer/pampered/out-of-touch self.

Now do I see Eddie committing to two hours of self-deprecation / deconstructing his own image? Probably not.

This project looks worse every time I see it skulk around.

If Eddie did his standup film before, it might work financially. Mr. Church was bad despite a solid performance from him. It's just so frustrating someone as likable as him can't make a decent movie.

Between now and the end of July, only one weekend boasts no sequels/continuations.

I really want it to work so it can make people forget III, but I don't want any mention of a son. That idea was just stupid.

Just have Axel, Rosewood and Taggert do something interesting, get Harol Faltermeyer to do the score, and keep it simple. Oh, an R-rated. Don't bother if it's PG-13. The same number of people are going to see it with either rating so keep it R.
