Favorite character on Empire's list of the 20 greatest?
Of the 20 characters named the greatest in film history by British based Empire Magazine, which is your personal favorite?

Does Neo have specific character? He's an audience surrogate; a blank slate so people can project themselves. He's pretty much Luke Skywalker or Bella Swan (though I don't mean that as an insult).

Re: Favorite character on Empire's list of the 20 greatest?
Great, great list, it is only missing a few of my other favorite movie characters, namely the Man with No Name and Col. Hans Landa (Dr. Schultz will be joining my list in the future no doubt).
But I went with Indiana Jones, he is everything I want in a hero. He is vurnerable, but still cool-headed, intelligent, but thinks a lot on the fly.
Such a great character.
But from this list, who could also be my number one:
Darth Vader Jules Winnfield Vito Corleone James Bond Joker Han Solo Jack Sparrow Tyler Durden Hans Gruber
ugh, such a good list with just a few notable omissions.

Hmm, hopefully in 5-10 years Hans Landa and Daniel Plainview will be on this list.

Re: Favorite character on Empire's list of the 20 greatest?
Right. It seems they've chosen based on popular culture/iconic status and not a character's personality. Which is why I don't understand the exclusion of Rocky or Rambo. This list isn't comprehensive. Probably rushed to meet a deadline.
Empire can go fuck themselves.

Re: Favorite character on Empire's list of the 20 greatest?
I'm actually surprised Rocky was not on the list DUE to his high pop-cultural status.

Rocky would be a worthy inclusion. Not sure Die Hard deserves two spots in the top 20.

Forrest Gump.
Everyone should be a little (or more) like Forrest Gump. World would be a better place.

Sir, Forrest Gump is an athlete, entrepreneur, soldier, and father. He does plenty.

He met the President, served in the Vietnam war, ran a lot, played American Football, operated a shrimping boat, created life, and pondered a lot.

Re: Favorite character on Empire's list of the 20 greatest?
Darth Vader and Indiana Jones in a landslide really...
One is the best villians ever, the other is one of the best and more likeable hero's ever.
Joker is a great villian but you never really like him...You more are scared from him..
Vader has that backstory which in the end makes you like him. Even when you did not know, you looked at awe at Vader...
