The honest trailer for Indian Jones 4 was so true.

Most of the special effects in Raiders were superior to the special effects in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which is just sad.

I rewatched them like a month ago, and yes, chapter 4 sucks except for Indy himself

Me too, It's step down by being a bit too safe, except of course by changing genres, but overall I'd still prefer it to the majority of Summer blockbusters of the past decade. It has a lot more positives than the few obvious negatives.

Raiders A+
Temple of Doom A+
Last Crusade A+
Crystal Skull A

Thegun likes Indy 4. That's the equivalent of having a 0% on RT.

I agree with that. The first 15 minutes or so of Temple of Doom are great and then it just gets pretty silly.

Temple Of Doom scored very well in the Franchise Ranker thread - - it's KJ's second favourite Indy movie.

Temple of Doom is excellent. It's the Indy that I grew up with.

Post Re: I just watched all Indiana Jones movies in a long time a
Temple of Doom has

1. A stupid, cliched female who is only there to be saved and scream; what an awful, one-dimensional character

2. A dumb kid sidekick that Indiana has no problem sending into harm's way

3. A bad guy who has decided that the best people to do hard labor are not strong, burly men but a bunch of weak little kids

4. Bad guys without any individual characteristics that make them stand out in any memorableway. Hey, who's the bad guy in Raiders? Belloc, of course. What's the name of the bad guy in Temple? Anyone? Anyone recall any unusual traits he has? Anything that makes him more than "generic bad guy #6"?

5. A lack of joy and fun. Yeah, do a dark Indy if you want to, but then go all the way. Dark evil stuff like human sacrifice and slavery doesn't play well off of comic set pieces and cute kid sidekicks.

I blame Chris Columbus for most of this. A better script would have solved most of these problems.

Maybe I am just disappointed because Raiders is one of my favorite films of all times. It's one of a few films that I cannot think of a thing that needs to be changed about it.

MOLA RAM

But ya, Temple is easily the weakest of the original trilogy. Crysal Skull wishes it could bee half as good.

Um, Mola Ram can rip your heart out, turn you into evil Indiana Jones, and has a kickass hat. And he's the only main villain to actually fight Indy. How is that not memorable?

Say what you want about Temple, but it's easily one of the most impressive sequels there is by not simply redoing the first film (Which is what Last Crusade did, of course it did it brilliantly)

I'd have to watch them both again to decide which should be on the bottom of the list, actually.

I will give it that, and let's face it, it had to follow a huge act. If Temple of Doom had come first -- or it had been the only Indiana Jones film -- I'd bet we would have a better view of it.

I don't know, when I was a kid, TOD and LC were my go to films, but Temple of Doom was just insanely crazy, with the Monkey Brains, Mine Car Chase, Voodoo, bridge at the end, heart scene, etc. It just pulled out all of the stops. And I'll always commend it that PG-13 was created especially for the film. I mean, for a lot of us, going from PG to R just sounds ridiculous today.

But when you really dissect how ridiculous that is, nothing in Crystal Skull is not as crazy as using a life raft as a parachute. The real difference is they found a way to do that with a real life raft, where as the CGI fridge is still on the same theory of Indy will think of something ridiculous that just works out for him.

PS, "Too much to Drink Dr. Jones" is one of my favorite lines of all time, especially when Ford responds by throwing a flaming sword Kabob into a mans chest. Most absurd/ awesome moment ever!

PS, new video I saw with every punch. Just so much fun. Honestly, no one can throw a punch like Indy. Especially the back hand bitch slap he often throws in. :funny:

This.

People need to lighten up about the fourth one. It's made with the same sense of fun as the other films (Nuke the Fridge...fuck anyone who complains about this. It's like they had never seen an Indiana Jones movie before). I know I'm in the minority, but I think it's pretty damn good. A little too much CGI, but welcome to filmmaking in the 21st century.

The only thing I can't defend is Shia. Why Spielberg had such a hard on for him, I'll never know.
