I don't like people in movie theaters
Is it me, or is the talking and texting and cellular phoning and general idiocy of movie patrons getting worse? This is what happened to me at the movies this week-
Trial 1: Midnight in Paris, Monday, 6:30PM Noisy group of people walk into the auditorium 10 minutes late. They sit in the first few rows, but before sitting, they stand up for no apparent reason for a long time. Additionally, a guy has his cell phone out for what felt like 20-30 minutes. He's on Facebook, I can see it from his iPhone screen.
Trial 2: Tree of Life, Thursday, 7:00PM Woman walks in to showing 10 minutes late, yelling, "IS THIS THE TREE OF LIFE? IS THIS THE MOVIE?" Someone says that it is indeed The Tree of Life, and then she yells, "EXCUSE ME, I'M FINDING MY SEAT, THANK YOU." Throughout the film, two women comment out loud on what they are seeing. One that I remember is, "This is so POIGNANT."
Trial 3: Cars 2, Friday, 2:30PM A kid near the back of the theater, sitting with his two parents, decides to comment on whatever pops through his wee little mind throughout the two hours. Long, frequent comments. Some highlights were the Toy Story short ("TOY STORY 4? DADDY, A TOY STORY 4 IS COMING OUT! IS THIS TOY STORY 4?"), the opening Finn McMissile scene ("HOW DOES HE DO THAT?"), and the scene where the raygun is introduced ("THAT'S A BAD GUN! HOW CAN THAT GUN KILL THE CARS?"). The parents never try to shut the kid up. A guy behind me is texting on his phone for most of the movie. Two guys two rows behind me are having a conversation, unrelated to the film.
I wish every theater was like the Alamo Drafthouse, and these annoying, ANNOYING people could just be thrown out of the theater without a refund.

Going during the matinee shows usually helps.
Also getting a manager to deal with the clowns usually helps. I've been given free vouchers for my next trip on several occasions when I've pressed the issue.

Never ever ever go see a PG-13 horror movie on a Friday night. Never.

I've never had a problem with people in the theater, even when there were lots of children.

I don't really have any problems when I go to the movies.
The only major problem I remember was during Wall-E. It was very crowded, near sell-out, and there were kids running all over the theater playing tag and stuff.

One time the person beside me flipped out their phone to text and I actually looked at that person's screen to see what they were doing. I continued to stare at the screen and then they quickly turned the light to the right so it was facing away from me. Needless to say, I wasn't bothered anymore by the bright screen. They seriously need to ban texters/loud talkers and kids who wear rainbow-colored glow in the dark sneakers!!

Seems like (in general) moviegoing audiences are much better here.

Re: I don't like people in movie theaters
Oh, I saw those blinking sneakers on a couple children when I went to the theatre yesterday. Luckily their parents didn't pick the Tree of Life.
Also, the issues at hand are only prevalent based on the type of theatre you attend. Some can have ghetto patrons who don't give a crap while others are run by people who do care about the customer and have very strict policies regarding those issues. I try to frequent that type of theatre 100% of the time.
