Post Salt sequel is moving forward
"Development has begun on a sequel to last year's Salt, Deadline reports.

The original film starred Angelina Jolie as CIA officer Evelyn Salt who, after being accused of being a Russian spy, goes on the run in an attempt to prove her innocence.

Jolie is expected to reprise her role for the sequel, now entering the writing stage with Kurt Wimmer (who wrote the original) drafting.

Most recently, Jolie provided a voice in Kung Fu Panda 2. She is next expected to make her directorial debut with In the Land of Blood and Honey, a romance set against the Bosnian war, which she also wrote."

Maybe they'll include a story this time.

I watched it again this last weekend and was so disappointed a sequel hadn't been announced yet. So glad this is moving forward, but I'll refrain from getting too terribly excited as they could easily scrap it. That would certainly be stupid though.

I found the first to be a major disappointment. I'll pass on this.

The first film was decent. Not great, but there's potential for the sequel.

I found the first to be surprisingly good. Can't wait for the sequel.

Good News! As Salt # 1. Good Action in a number of different scenes and a story that moved along.

Jolie's Best Action Series?

If they want to ruin the sequel, they should!

Aren't there like fifteen dramatically different versions of the first one out there?

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

No Jolie in Salt 2: http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/casti ... tid=701626

That sucks. I thought Salt was a blast and was really looking forward to a sequel. They should try and work with her on a script that's up to her satisfaction. Wouldn't really want to see them re-cast the role.

It sounds like she rejected Wimmer's draft, not that she'd walked away entirely. The problem is that I don't think this is a franchise that can go too long between entries, so they'd better get things worked out quick.

Jolie basically carried Solt, both in selling the movie and in her portrayal. I don't think it would be wise to move on without her.

They're dreaming if they're thinking of comparing this to the Bourne series anyway. They had three hit films under their belt before replacing their lead (and we have no idea how that's going to turn out).

Wimmer & Co. are going to do the same after a single, decent-performing entry? I can't imagine that happening under any circumstances.

Better not be recasting Jolie!

LOL!

They really need to make some adjustments on the script or something. Allow her to give them some notes. Anything to get her signed on again.

They can do a crossover with Iron Man.

The film will be shit without Jolie ....IMO

Why do studios insist on Renner to take the main role in every saga

Mission Impossible
Bourne
Salt

This.

The only other option would be to do a DTV sequel, but why even bother with that?
