 Gemma Arterton joins Jeremy Renner in Hansel & Gretel "Gemma Arterton is said to have been cast as Gretel, the female lead in the upcoming Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters in a story at Variety.
Arterton's Gretel, an older version of the classic folklore character works, along with her brother, Hansel (Jeremy Renner), as a bounty hunter specializing in bringing down witches.
Though earlier reports suggested that the role of Gretel would go to Noomi Rapace, plans seem to have changed in Arterton's favor.

Re: Gemma Arterton joins Jeremy Renner in Hansel & Gretel Don't know. Haven't seen it. But this project is more similar to her two bland performances that the drama/thriller mix of Alice Creed, so I'm guessing she won't have a good turn her either.

Re: Gemma Arterton joins Jeremy Renner in Hansel & Gretel Well, but at least she could have some sort of a legit action role here and do something. She was nothing but eye candy (albeit a good one) in Clash and PoP.

At least that would seem as a more inspired pick than the safe bet Emma (pretty and delivers unoffensive performance).
