Harrigan said it could be the year's most successful film among all studios. Buzz for the first movie has been building for years.

Audiences, he added, have been introduced to major characters in "Avengers" via "Iron Man" and "Captain America: The First Avenger," and lesser-known characters such as Nick Fury and Hawkeye via cameos in "Captain America" and "Thor."

"We're expecting it will be an absolute phenomenon," Hollis said. "I don't know who doesn't know about 'The Avengers' at this point."

WB's tentpole movie is going to get clobbered HARD.. :funny:

OH please what else is he going to say. He's paid to say stuff like this do you think he would say this Movie is going to be very Crappy. No Because he would be fire

Here Batfans.. If your in New York, you can purchase tickets to TDKR in IMAX 7 months early.. Can you say, overdoing it a bit???? :funny: Shit like this is what causes backlashes and there is absoultely no reason why WB feels the need to sell these tickets this early in the game, even coming off a lukewarm trailer at that..

They should have the theatre sell 200 or so tickets. Then it will be "sold out." Create a sense of feverish demand. Then put the leftover tickets on StubHub for 3-4x the face.

Yeah, then when the movie comes out and it sucks(which it will) you can feel like a shlub for forking over 4X the cash for a movie with a 2nd rate villain no one outside the fanbase has ever heard of, certainly not on the JOKER level of awareness either, but in the end, it's best you all find this out for yourselves..

Oh boy.. WB confirms that there will be no reworking of BANES voice like initially thought according to rumors which means this movie is in the crapper next summer for the general audience not hip with shelling out 20 bucks to see a movie they can't understand the damn dialogue to from the villain, even 2nd rate at best.. Here's a thought WB and Nolan: You owe it to the moviegoer who just shelled out a bunch of fucking $$$$ to see your flick and the very least you could do is touchup the dialogue so people can understand what they just paid to see dumbasses... :funny: I think it's safe to say at this point that Nolan made TDKR for HIMSELF and his Ego more than for the fans the way this is coming off...

Quote:
Warner Bros. Says There Is "No Truth" To The New Audio Mix For THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

If you were hoping that the rumor that surfaced yesterday was true, then bad news... It seems that Warner Bros. is saying that nothing has changed as far as Bane's voice goes. Check it out...
WolvieCBM - 1/3/2012

Well, that was fast. Yesterday, it was reported that Warner Brothers have changed (cleaned up) the audio for The Dark Knight Rises IMAX prologue, so people could understand Bane in the film, since there were many complaints about that. And now it seems that is not true after all.

From The New York Times writer Dave Itzkoff (via The Playlist):

"Warner Bros. says "no truth" to reports of new Dark Knight Rises prologue trailers going out with fixed Bane audio."

Ouch Batfans.. Sucks to be you.. :funny:

National Unrest Intensifies As BaneGate Rages On

The war over Bane's dialogue gets more intense amid reports that the IMAX prologue has been remixed.

Is Bane understandable or not? America must know! And if Bane isn't understandable, we must know who at Warner Bros knew it, and when they found out. We need Congressional inquiries!

The first order of business: is Warner Bros lying about fixing the Bane audio in the IMAX The Dark Knight Rises prologue? Reports are surfacing that now Bane is actually comprehensible. The Woodwards and Bernsteins at Collider have a source that tells them a new soundtrack has been sent out to IMAX projectionists, with the background plane noise reduced. So while Bane's voice hasn't been touched, the mix has been changed to bring him to the fore, which the projectionist says makes him 40% more understandable. That's a scientific measurement.

But Warner Bros flat out denies it, despite Collider having a printed piece of paper that says "Dear IMAX Projectionist" and details how to use the new disc with the new mix.

If Christopher Nolan does change the mix, where does that leave the Batjihadists who were adamant - militantly adamant! - that Bane was perfectly understandable all along? Is their leader admitting fault? This could lead to a wave of suicide bombings by grown men tearfully clutching Hot Toys Joker figures (probably the Joker as Cop one, it's so real looking!).

I think the fire is rising. FUCK! What if this was Bane's plan all along...

Actually, it does matter cause let's remember: This isn't the TDK where we have Ledger's death to sell and fuel the movies box office this time.. No, instead were treated to a much darker, apocalyptic looking movie with a 2nd rate villain and a voice that beckons to be fixed to be made more clear, but the studio wants to drag there feet on it to make it look like there not wrong and nothings wrong with the audio when in fact, there is.. Just because the fans claim to understand what Hardy's lame character is saying(even after reading transcripts of the dialogue prior to seeing the Prologue or trailer) doesn't mean the average moviegoer will and if they can't understand it, then say goodbye to this movie's box office gross and you can't count on that to.. As a matter of fact, this was going to happen anyway whether there's audio issues or not..

Yeah, after you read the transcript to what he says, sure, but don't deny there aren't issues that need to be taken care of, if for the damn sake of the fans getting 1 final movie that won't border on sucking cause that's the direction this movie is heading..

Gotta break it to ya Rev, but wishful thinking this time out.. No Ledger, no Ledger's death fueling ticket sales and for the love of God, a villain that's currently being lampooned and the butt of latenight talkshow jokes in the form of Hardy's BANE.. If you really think this isn't going to hurt this movie in the end for WB being as stubborn as they come in not recognizing that it's a legit problem, then there in for a fall and so are you.. I mean, it's bad enough that the AVENGERS is going to make TDKR it's bitch at the box office(and you can sure bet it will give there's no negative WOM like there is for TDKR and it's unintelligable villain) leaving me with the very BEST "What Went Wrong" Thread ready and waiting when TDKR takes a bath due to poor WOM and expectations not being met and really, how could they after the last one, handicap and all???

http://www.cnn.com/video/?hpt=hp_c2#/vi ... ossible-to

Yeah, here ya go.. CONAN loves you Batfans and so much, he's making BANE the butt of his jokes.. :hahaha:

The Dark Knight Rises
When: July 20

Who: Christopher Nolan (director), Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman

What: The caped crusader returns after eight years when Gotham City is terrorized by a villain frustrated that nobody understands him.

Why: This is it. The end of the legend. How far will Nolan be willing to go in closing out the ultimate comic trilogy?

This is RT's Top 10 Most Anticipated of 2012.. I fiond it sort of odd and funny that this is how they phrased TDKR as the most anticipated of 2012.. I mean, why would you phrase it that the Villain is frustrated no one can understand him when he's being spoofed and lampooned on Latenight Talkshows for this very reason??? Not the way you want to sell a movie folks.. :funny:

Good article on why Batman fans are so sensitive about the BANE issue.. I agree with pretty much of what he said, except not agreeing about TDKR being the #1 moneymaker of 2012 cause I still maintain that belongs to the AVENGERS and it will and be the shock of the year at how a MARVEL movie could've beaten a Nolan movie with a crappy villain and Devin will be backtracking along with every body else..

BaneGate Update: Website Humbled, Audio Unchanged?

We're through the looking glass here, gentlemen.

I just got an email from Warner Bros directing me to Collider, the site that broke the 'They changed the audio mix on the Dark Knight Rises prologue' story which burned up the internet earlier this week. It turns out that Collider has redacted their story and claimed full responsibility for the error.

You can read Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub's mea culpa right here.

Does Bane hold Steve's loved ones hostage? Has he been forced at muffled maskpoint to make this correction? Or is this the actual truth, and was Collider's piece of paper with a letter to IMAX projectionists a terrible hoax?

The funny thing is how little of this matters. I've been covering this stuff with a lot of snark because it's really funny, and it's fascinating to see what a PR headache this has become for Warner Bros. The Dark Knight Rises is a slam dunk movie, and will almost certainly be the #1 film of 2012; they didn't really need to do this preview at all. I suspect they did it because NOT doing it might be seen as a sign of a lack of faith; in many ways they're repiicating the hugely successful campaign for The Dark Knight. They showed the preview last time, so they're showing the preview this time.

I think this highlights the danger of early footage presentations. Out of context, possibly unfinished (films get tweaked right up to release) segments of movies make effective marketing tools, but can muddy the waters in other ways. Right now the waters are as muddied as Bane's dialogue (rim shot!), and so Warner Bros is dealing with a nerd discourse that is less 'How awesome is this!' and more 'Let's fight about comprehensibility.' Unfortunately the reach of nerd debates is bigger than ever; the Bane stuff has been covered on lots and lots of more mainstream sites. This isn't what Warner Bros wanted people talking about.

What I believe will stick with me about this whole thing (and we're totally gonna forget about it once The Dark Knight Rises is out and dominates the box office for weeks) is the way the hardcore fans reacted. There were two mutually exclusive lines of attack from fans - one was that Nolan intended it to be this way, and it's exciting that a blockbuster doesn't condescend to feed you every line of dialogue, and the other is that they had no problem hearing every single word. I liked when people used both lines of defense at once.

This is the stuff that doesn't matter. It's funny, and it's fun to make jokes about it, but in the end the movie is the thing. And while I don't find Nolan to be the messiah-like figure many of his fans make him out to be, I do believe that he's a director who has fully earned the benefit of the doubt, and the real discussion about Bane's voice shouldn't begin until after the full film has been seen.

that looks creepy, but I am more than pleasant with the final product, however it would be interesting if warner decides to use some ideas from this concept art in the next batman reboot
