Beowulf: The Director's Cut is glorious fun!
Anyone remember being amazed that Beowulf somehow got a PG-13? Try watching the hard, hard R director's cut, and you won't believe they got away with it!
But seriously, here's a blockbuster that really holds up. I have yet to see a 3-D movie that topped Beowulf in terms of ingenious ways to play with depth perception, but even on my dinky TV the great story, strong dialogue, and AMAZING score pull through.
If you don't like Beowulf, I wouldn't be surprised if you also disliked Avatar. Mo-cap is an acquired taste, but I hope Robert Zemeckis never makes a live action film again!

Only a minute. Besides the extra carnage and sensuality that would have pushed this waaay into hard-R territory, it's the same film. Even so, the Grendel scenes felt much more fleshed out, in more ways than one.
