WOW!! New Line Cinema To Do PHANTASM Trilogy Remake
http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=19602
Now as a kid, one of the best horror movies that was a Cult movie with true horror fans was a movie called PHANTASM.. It centered around this kid named Mike and this tall Mortician known as "The Tall Man" and he would rob graves along with these demonic dwarves, steal the bodies and shrink them down to dwarf size in order to send them to a different Dimension.. The highlight of this movie were these "Spheres" that would fly at you with all sorts of blades and rotating saws that would pop out and drill into your head and kill you.. This movie I believe was made back in 1979, then the Sequel came out known as PHANTASM II which was a continuation from the end of the 1st movie with a different actor playing the part of Mike and his hippie ice cream vendor friend known as Reggie..
Well, according to AICN, New Line wants to give this movie the remake treatment for a whole new generation to enjoy... For me to even embrace the thought of this, they would HAVE to bring back "The Tall Man" played by the same actor who played him in the other films named Angus Scrimm and Reggie Banister would YES, HAVE to be the one to come back and play Reggie... Without the Tall Man in this movie or even Reggie, this remake will suck ass... Anyone here at KJ Old enough to remember this series from way back then??? It does sound promising and the movie would have to be R-Rated.. None of this PG-13 Bullshit because the original movies were flat out creepy and PG-13 would not do these films justice..

Yeah I'm psyched about this one. I like the "Star Wars of Horror" idea.

Phantasm was one of my favorite gory horror movies. Its not tame compared to todays horror and the gore holds up well along with Hellraiser in today's standards. I do hope the remake is as gory if not more gorier than the original one
