I'm not saying his suit doesn't have merit, it probably does. Just....well it's like if someone pulls you to life out of a raging river, are you then going to complain that they stole your watch?
This is about a contracyt, though. A contract works two ways. The studio obviously thought hiring him to do this was worth the risk; they wanted something out of it, too. If they didn't honor the terms of the contract while Jackson did, then aren't they the bad guys?
If I have a contract with my landlord and he refuses to fix the heat, am I supposed to be grateful because he gave me a place to stay anyway? No, we both made agreements: I agree to pay rent, he agrees to fix things when they break. Jackson agreed to make a movie, and they agreed to pay him a percentage of the profits. He lived up to his end of the bargain and in fact gave them even more than they expected (lots of Oscars and lots more money than anyone could have predicted) and now it's time for them to live up to their end of the bargain.
