It's great how his career is going up while Crowe is off his crest and Meg Ryan is floundering.

He's a big reason that I hate Russell Crowe and won't watch his movies. I've liked Dennis Quaid since I first saw him in The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia. Not only did I find him to be a great singer, but the movie is still a favorite of mine to this day, and in the spirit of Million Dollar Baby, it doesn't have a typical Hollywood ending. Mark Hamill is in it as well, in a role that's nothing like Luke Skywalker. Loved him in the hysterical comedy, Caveman, opposite of Ringo Starr and others. Innerspace is another favorite of mine. (I think that's where he met Meg Ryan)
Val Kilmer got so much acclaim for his performance as Doc Holliday, and I liked his version better than Quaid's as well, but Quaid played it the way he really was. No charisma, sickly, disgusting, and somebody you wouldn't want to know. Wyatt Earp was not as well recieved as Tombstone, but Quaid , who lost an unhealthy amount of weight for the role, may have deserved an Oscar for it.

Denis Quaid was always a good actor, I am glad he finally getting good roles and people are finally starting to like him.
I watched Innerspace all the time as a kid, I loved that movie. Quiad was excellent in The Rookie, In Good Company. He was also good in Wyatt Earp, which willa lessor film then Tombstone, it is not due to Quaid, who was excellent.

Oh yeh, i remember Inner Space, that is a verygood film, forgot he starred in it, though.
Maverick, on some level i agree, i dislike Russell Crowe more and more everytime i see him in anything, he just irritates me. I loved Gladiator when i first saw it, but now its kinda in the same brackets as a film like Face/Off, you know...the kinda film that was good once, but now its just like every other type of film.....partly because of the split i am starting to loathe Crowe.
Is Quaid in both Wyatt Earp and Tombstone? didnt know that.

No, Val Kilmer plays Doc Holliday in Tombstone, and Quaid plays him in Wyatt Earp.
I haven't seen a movie with Russell Crowe in it since L.A. Confidential, and after the scum moved in on Quaid's wife, and after all of his asshole antics on various sets, It's easy to pass his garbage up. My life isn't suffering any because of it. He needs to have somebody knock the shit out of him one good time, and maybe it will be enough for him to become a man for once in his life.

I don't like Quaid all that much, but I like what he represents, he looks and acts more like a real American than the vast majority of movie stars do.

I always hated that when someone cheats, who go after the person they cheat with. It is lik when a girl catches her man cheating and she beats up the girl he slept with and takes him back, makes no sense.
Quite frankly Meg Ryan is the bitch in the situation, end of discussion. She made the committment to Quiad, not Crowe, I don;t care if Crowe showed up in her trialer buck naked, it was her responsiblity to say, no I am married, and be an adult.
Crowe may be an ass, but its not his job to honor Ryan's committment to Quaid.

Good point Ripper, but i think Maverick just wanted a dig at the Aussie's
....Russell is still an idiot though. i think different genders will look at this situation differently.

Crowe reputation doesn;t make me think great guy, but when it comes tot he whoel Quiad, Ryan, Crowe situation...Ryan bears the brunt of this because she was the one who married. IF Ryan wasn;t happy in her marriage she should have dealt with that first before engaging in a relationship. I was not surprised it didn;t work, relationships born out of affairs rarely do.

While I believe she also is totally to blame for that, Crowe knew who she was, and who she was married to. It wasn't a case of her taking off her wedding ring at a bar, and sleeping with an innocent and ignorant guy. He knew full well that she was married, and he disrespected the fact. He couldn't say "No, you're married?". I get the sense that he initiated it in the first place. It doesn't excuse her at all, because she too is at fault in a big way, but he is equally so.

It doesn;t matter if he knoew or he initiated, people, both mena dn women, come on to married/oherwise attached peopel all the time. I got asked out twice this week, its not the job of the person asking me out to honor the promise I made to my boyfriend.
Whilegoing after a married woman does nto make Crowe a saint, when teh shit hit hte fan I felt like the press let Ryan off easy, it was all Crowe's fault, he prusued her,he had the bad boy reputation. Who cares? The simple fact is, she was the one in a committed relationship, not him.
I say this as someone who has chated on a boyfriend, and the guy i cheaed kenw I had a boyfriend...its still my fault I cheated, even though he prusued me.
Crowe has no agreed upon responsiblity to Quaid, Ryan did.
On top of that Ryan had a child, what ten year old wants to read that their mom is shagging the guy on set, I mean seriously, I place alot of blame Ms. Ryan. Every person one's fucks is not responsiblie for saying "you are committed let me stop," they shouldn't have to.
My question is, have you stopped seeing Meg Ryan movies?

Well yeah, but that's cause they're all terrible since When Harry Met Sally.
I think its everyone's personal opinion to choose to watch movies by an actor/ress according to their personal life, but I don't buy it. I'm more invested of the content of the movie I am about to support, and so didn;t pay the big bucks to see
Passion, but sure would watch a smart Spielberg movie even if Cruise was in it (thought I'm quickly losing respect for Cruise).
What people do in their own lives is up to them. I think saying its not fair that her kid read about Ryan cheating in the papers has more to do with paparazzi press than it does with the fact that kids everywhere learn that their parents are cheating on eachother. And really, I don't care. If she did a smart movie, with a smart director, and a smart agenda, I'd support the agenda. I sais the same think about the Monica sex-scandal. Do I think its bad the Bill slept with someone in the position he was in? Yes. Did I prefer his broader discussions around women's reproductive health, jobs, etc? Yes. So I'd still vote for him over someone with a fabulously clean sexual personal record but terrible public policy towards women.
I don't care what Crowe, Ryan, or anyone else does when they're bored on the set. I care that the movies they are in aren't regressive, offensive, or, well, boring and poorly produced movies.
Opinion subject to change

Crowe should have had an agreed upon responsibility to respect Quaid and the institution of marriage. I lost all respect for Meg Ryan too, and I'm glad that her career went down in flames. She doesn't deserve anything.
Have I stopped watching her movies? Well, I was never so much into her romantic comedies, like When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle, so it wasn't a stretch to stop watching them, but I'll still watch Innerspace, Armed and Dangerous, The Presidio (it's Connery, after all \:D/ ) and Top Gun. She's a bit different, as she's not the draw of the movie, and she doesn't have a history of being an asshole like Crowe does. I still don't have any respect for her, but she doesn't walk around like the world is her oyster like Crowe does.

He's okay, I guess. I wouldn't go out of my way to see a movie he is in just because he's in it, but he's a nice actor.
