 New Frontrunner for 007!! While he previously was believed to have passed on the role due to his Nip/Tuck schedule, UK's The Mirror now says Julian McMahon is one of two frontrunners for James Bond in the upcoming Casino Royale.
The 36-year-old Australian reportedly said: "I'm a big James Bond fan. I met the producers for a final audition. They told me to expect a decision in a couple of months and they said it was between me and one other person. It's going to be a very nervous wait."
The other person in the frame is believed to be British actor Clive Owen.
McMahon will next be seen on the big screen as Dr. Doom in 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four.

I don't know this guy, but I doubt he's as good an actor as Clive Owen.
Just because he looks like a Bond doesn't mean he'll make a good Bond.

They've confirmed they're going with Bond Year One.
I highly doubt Julian will be casted. Not that I don't think he'll do a good job but he looks too old if they're going to restart the franchise with Bond just receiving his 007 status.

Dang, I just replied in the other Bond thread that I wouldn't offer an opinion until I knew who the next Bond would be.
The verdict so far: he's not hot enough. Sorry. But I'm happy they are looking in the mid-30's range.

I can sense some haven't seen him much yet. I've seen him on Nip/Tuck, and I think I can really hear a good "Bond... James Bond" coming from him. Don't know yet, though.
