I'm looking forward to Lucas acknowledging Jackson's contribution to the fantasy genre in the same way that Jackson paid homage to Lucas in ROTK.
Of course, this Hobbit project won't involved Lucas, but let's assume this rumour is true

There has been a lot of back and forth love given between the producers of Lord of the Rings and Lucasarts in particular. Jackson appears on the Star Wars DVDs. And I think McCullum is in the Fellowship of the Ring DVD somewhere. I don't really know what needs to be said?
Lucas is not the keeper of the "fantasy" genre, he just is a contributor like Jackson. Lucas doesn't need to acknowledge anything, although I'm nearly positive that Lucas and Jackson would only say extremely positive things about each other, even if their fans like to sling shit back and forth at each other.

Andaroo, their mutual respect is the reason why I am looking forward to him giving a nod to Jackson. Of course, this whole thing is a stupid rumour and is completely baseless, but if it happened, I think Lucas and Jackson would have a great time discussing it, don't you think?
And obviously, he's not obliged to do anything, I just think it would be neat.

LOTR, Hobbit, Silmarillion - these are one and the same franchise, Middle-Earth franchise that is.

Um, Guys, I made this shit up Ok??? Amazing that an actual debate is being spurned over this for something that isn't happening and was made to guage a reaction from the LOTR Fans who think Jackson is the only one capable of bringing these movies to life and really, I'm sure there are other Directors who could do it..

Like Paul "The Man" Anderson.
We could turn Bilbo into a woman and have her fall in love with the Smaug who brands her.
