Can we just have a moment to appreciate Kevin Bacon
I saw a trailer with him yesterday and he's going to play a snooty long-haired prima donna hairdresser. Thats excellent. I always say that most actors bring a bit of themselves into their roles, and that is why often their characters always feel a bit the same (that's not a bad thing, btw) but Bacon is one of the only guys I know that even though he's so big, etc, still really blends into his roles. He has a great sense of humor too. Remember when he did that cameo in Novocaine?
Anyways, these are all the movies I've seen with him in it,
Animal House
Diner
Footloose
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
A Few Good Men
Apollo 13
Wild Things
My Dog Skip
Novocaine
Mystic River
Beauty Shop (trailer)
Its actually not that much, going through his entire catalogue I realized he's done a ton of excellent movies. The six degrees thing (or so i hear) came out of the fact that he's worked with everyone in Hollywood. Remember when he did that credit card add? That was excellent.
Anyways, when he was filming Mystic River I used to work in a video store, there was a second branch of that store on Newbury street and we knew the manager there very well. one day he calls our place totally flushed and wanting to pretty much gossip with us that Kevin had just come into the store, opened an account and rented a movie. It was typical because we still need to ask for i.d. and credit card, etc, so the manager (and we work in a video place, so there is definately no way we don't know who he is) had to be like "Excuse me Mr. Bacon, can I please see a form of i.d. and a credit card?" He said kevin was fine with it and not snooty, etc. Anywho, that's when I first saw Footloose because my boss decided to go on a Kevin spree over at our branch and play him the entire day.
I actually think he's a great actor, and I want to see JFK, Sleepers, and a few other movies he's been in.

I haven't seen Murder in the First, is it any good? Hey in Footloose remember the scene were he's on the high bar? Thats when my boss first informed me that he was a professionally trained gymnast before he became an actor. That was so random when he was dancing in the barn and swinging around.

Didnt know about that part about him being professionally trained. Murder in the First isnt too bad but it does have some flaws when you are basing it on a true story and you always see the same cliches' in all true stories when they make it the antagonist more evil than he is in real life. Still I recommend it
Another movie I like from his was She's Having a Baby. Back in that time, John Hughes use to make good movies till he turned to family films

dolce, you haven't seen Friday the 13th or JFK? He was one of my favorite bit players in JFK. The scene with him and Tommy Lee Jones and Joe Pesci is frightening to watch.
He was my favorite character in Mystic River, and I also liked him quite a bit in A Few Good Men, another one of my top films.
He's always solid.

JFK is my favorite Oliver Stone film. It's well worth checking out.
Friday the 13th would scare you that bad? You would be fun to make jump while watching something like that. I've always taken a sadistic pleasure in doing that to those who fall into that category.

Yes he always has been a good actor who fits in well.
Also, he has been married for a long time to the actress Kyra Sedgwick and plays in a band - I think it is called the Bacon Brothers.

He gives one of the best performances of the year in The Woodsman. Catch it just for his performance if you are a Bacon fan.
You are also missing some very essential Bacon movies such as Sleepers, Hollow Man, and The River Wild. Murder in the First also has a spectacular Bacon performance but the movie itself isn't that good.

Oh, Galia.
F13 is not that bad. It's actually extremely overrated. If you could take Suspiria, F13 would be a walk in the park.
And yeah, Bacon is great. I think he is overlooked a lot because he's made some questionable script choices in his career, but he is always the best thing about the bad movies he's in.

I haven't seen him in that much. Looking at IMDB, just Mystic River, Hollow Man, Stir of Echoes, Wild Things, Sleepers, Apollo 13, A Few Good Men, JFK, Friday the 13th, Animal House, and Tremors. However, he's a great actor.

I'm dying to see that one, but I guess it will have to be on DVD.
I appreciate Kevin Bacon a great deal, Dolcevita. I've seen a lot of his films, but he's usually an actor I tend to forget about when making lists and such. I have no idea why.

He was my favorite part of Mystic River, well, maybe after Tim Robbins.
Tremors and Footloose are both enjoyable movies. So what if they're not Oscar bait? They're both fun to watch.
One of his best overlooked movies is She's Having A Baby with Elizabeth McGovern which I believe was directed by John Hughes. It's funny, but the ending is one of the most emotional I've ever seen. Check it out!

Absolutely brilliant. What should have been an Oscar-nominated performance.
