This is really weird. Apparently Brian Singer is going to make the new superman movie in flashback sequences.. Ihope it's just the origin that they flashback and not everything else. I could be over-reading this.

Here's the article from zap2it.com

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Eva Marie Saint, best known for playing the cool blonde in "On the Waterfront" and "North by Northwest," will celebrate her 50th year in the movies by entering the superhero genre.
The 80-year-old actress won't have to perform any stunts, however. She'll play Martha Kent, the adoptive mother of Clark Kent in the upcoming Bryan Singer-directed "Superman" movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The project will concentrate on Superman's life after he's already established his superhero reputation, with his origin story told in flashbacks.

Already cast in the film are newcomer Brandon Routh as Superman, Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, Hugh Laurie as the newspaper's editor-in-chief Perry White, James Marsden as Richard White and Sam Huntington as Jimmy Olsen. Kate Bosworth is currently in talks to play Lois Lane.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in March in Australia.

Saint, who won a supporting actress Oscar for "On the Waterfront," also appears in the upcoming Wim Wenders film "Don't Come Knocking" and the movie adaptation of the children's book "Because of Winn-Dixie," which will open nationwide on Friday, Feb. 18.

I would believe it's only in between every other scene that they'll slip in a flashback scene, and not make the entire movie in flashbacks. Then again, wouldn't that be just a movie based on his origins, which clearly they aren't doing?

Superman Returns starts 6 years after the events of Superman 2. That explains the flashbacks, focussing on some of the events that took place during the 6 year hiatus that Superman takes from Earth (DCMU). That may also explain why Brandon Routh is so young, yet portraying a character that should be in his 30s.
