Wow, this year loos like its going to be awful for animation. Come to think about it 2004 was already pretty bad. That there were maybe four large movies and three of them were bad. There was no smaller indie type animation, and perennial Miyasaki was missing. Japanimation, Sketch cartoons, even Nickelodeon couldn't do better than Spongebob. I miss Jimmy Nuetron and The Wild Thornberries.

2005 looks to be going the same route and its dissappointing. About the most exciting 'toon for me is going to be Pooh's Heffalump Movie and that's most likely due to nostalia more than anything else. Madagascar looks like its going to fall apart completely, and honestly, I don't even know what its about. Dreamworks just hasn't been making the grade lately anyways. I don't know when Robots is coming out, but I've seen the trailer several times and it doesn't look like its going to be breaking much new ground either visually or in good stories and script. I don't know. I loved Incredibles, but I'm getting a bit sick of the genre because its quickly becoming as formalized as 2-d disney movies were. I always liked the flat and sketchish styles that Nickelodeon came out with. No Triplettes of Belleville, no SPirited Away. This year looks pretty boring as far as feature-length animation films.

Dolcevita, HOwl's Moving Castle is coming out summer 2005, and that's Miyazaki's follow-up to Spirited Away (and has been raking in tremendous bucks in Japan). Also, you have Wallace and Gromit in Fall (I expect another Chicken Run \:D/ )


So it shouldn't be too bad.

Yeah, and aside from Howl's Moving Castle and Wallace and Gromit there's also The Corpse Bride, Chicken Little... The Corpse Bride...

Still that's four potentially brilliant animated films right there, and I say that even though I'm not a fan of Aardman Animation.

Yay. I don't now how I missed those. I was scanning the-numbers release dates and didn't see them. I thought CHicen Run was awsome. I've only seen one Wallace and Gromit short (The Wrong Trousers) so we'll see if they can hold a full length, but its good to hear Howl's Moving Castle is coming out too.

I was really dissappointed with this year's collection. There are usually at least a few smaller movies. I'm thinking of my Oscar review and want to do a "should have been nominated" section and really couldn't find one when it came to animation. What a pathetic year. Thank goodness for Incredibles otherwise I would have considered this year a complete anthema to the animation world.

ANything by Nickelodeon coming out that anyone nows of? That's good I mean.

It's like Black Cat, White Cat but better!

Okay, it's a new stop-motion animated film from the mind of sexy genius Tim Burton!

As to my watching Black Cat, White Cat dolce. I looked in every store here in Manchester, and nobody has it or has even heard of it. Are there any online stores you know of that sell it? Cheaply?



Chicken Little has the potential to be great. Most of the artwork I've seen has been great, Zach Braff's a god-in-waiting, and I'll always trust Disney to make solidly entertaining animated flicks. Don't forget they've got an awful lot to prove with this film, I don't see them dropping the ball that easy.

Thats how I feel. 2-D is no more regressive than 3-D. It can be just as creative in story telling and perhaps even more creative (now that Disney 2-D is dead) as far as stylistic renditions. While 3-D is really great, I don't think everything has to be pushed towards realism esthetically. I would love to see a movie purposefully invoke grainy early 20th century animation or something along those lines. 3-D will get supersaturated soon and there will always be a niche market for 2-D films if those films are creative and unique.

Awwwww, I checked Amazon and vhs is 17$ and dvd is 20$. I don't know other ones. That sucs...tell Manchester rental places to get a life.
