I was hoping for Cuaron or Del Toro...someone who'd make it truly spectacular, but at least they didn't go with Christopher hack Columbus.

Artistically, yes. Financially? No. Why pay for an A-list director if the movies all make the same amount (and, indeed, the best-directed one made the least)?

It's a shame WB didn't bring in someone more talented. OotP was pretty good, but Azkaban was just...superior.

I would love for them to bring in Burton or Gilliam or Cuaron or del Toro for the last film. You should know I'm more and more concerned with the art of the film instead of the entertainment. I'm just saying it makes financial sense for WB to do this.

The writing team on 6 and 7 is different though.

I don't mind Yates, I loved OoTP but was Cauron busy or?? what..

EDIT: Cuaron actually is rather busy with 4 announced films for 2009. Alright.

I hated the way they portrayed Harry and Snape's sessions teaching Harry to shield his mind. Terribly botched.

Other than that, I thought the screenplay was great.

I am okay with it, I liked OOTP, it could have been better in parts. Hopefully, he will grow as a director. OOTP was his first major hollywood production. Kloves is coming back and I think he has done a very good job with these films.

Yates does a good job, but Deathly Hallows deserves the best treatment possible, and he can't deliver quite that amazing of a product.

But who knows...maybe he'll get much better by his third try.

I'm okay if he returns as well. I think he can build on the franchise from here on out, and I think we'll see something that we weren't expecting with Potter 6. And if I had to pick just one Potter film and only one to watch forever and ever, I'd have to go with OOTP. I would have liked Burton to do the last one though, but I'd rather him work on Alice and Spook's I think. BUT! I would have loved if WB brought him on board to direct just the Cave Scene in HP6. Not happening of course, but I'd love to see what he'd do with it. And I'm slightly glad Yates seems to be in over Cauron, and especially Columbus.

I have to agree with Corpse somewhat (*gasp*).

Yates can mimic 3 and 4 enough to make a good adaptation of the last two books (which are somewhat easier than 5 in my opinion).

I'd much rather see Cuarón do something else, as much as I like Potter.

LOL right like the last two movies won't approach that. I think DH is almost a lock for 300, unless they split into two now that might change things. I have no clue what that would do.
