From that list i would prefer Chris evans. To me he has a lot of potential as an actor. Too bad he hasn't been utilized properly. He was one of the best things of the first f4 movie and 2nd best of the second movie. I liked him a lot in not another teen movie and also he was great in SUNSHINE where he showed a good level of maturity, sincerity and leadership in the role as required.
But ya he might not get the role.

Duke is like the mentor of the group so it would be a better choice to go with someone older like Matthew Fox

But ya he might not get the role. I thought he was the only good thing about The Nanny Diaries. The movie's a crap, but Evans did a good part being the big bro and boyfriend. Also he was pretty good in Cellular. He's definitely my number one choice here. Then Matthew Fox (I don't find him particulary good as an actor, he's just OK). And Channing Tatum last.

Matthew Fox should fit the role.

Matthew Fox isn't hot enough. One of the other two please (especially Evans).

I'd go Evans all the way, he is a far superior actor.

I use to think he is an immature actor and suits roles like jhonny storm where he is being a jerk all the time BUT after seeing sunshine my opinion changed. The guy can do serious roles very well. To be honest him doing a good job in GI JOE will depend on the script.

Re: And Duke from G.I. Joe is....
Quote: Exclusive: Who will be DUKE in G.I. JOE? AICN knows - and knowing is half the battle!
Hey folks, Harry here - I heard today that tomorrow afternoon a press release will be going out to the trades and various outlets that a certain young actor had been cast as DUKE - leader of our beloved G.I. JOE crew. Now - I'm not entirely sure about this actor - mainly because he hasn't really been given this sort of exposure - and this sort of character responsibility before - at least in a movie we've seen yet.
DUKE will be played by Channing Tatum, a 27 year old actor from Alabama. He was an uncredited "Boy in church scene" in Spielberg's WAR OF THE WORLDS - you might remember him from SHE'S THE MAN or STEP UP. His best work to date was in A GUIDE TO RECOGNIZING YOUR SAINTS.
Coming up - I've heard really strong word on his performance in Kimberly Peirce's STOP LOSS, coming up this March 28th. He's also headling a film with Terrence Howard and Luis Guzman for ROGUE PICTURES called FIGHTING. He's a young actor that is on the rise. Now I figure the biggest complaint that's coming is that he's just 27 - and that Duke should be played by a more battle-tested aged badass.
Well, we'll see him get battle-tested in STOP LOSS - but whether you love it or hate it - he's going to be DUKE for Stephen Sommer's G.I.JOE!!! Oh well this sucks. I was hoping for Chris Evans.

Heh, guess Evans and Fox had prior commitments.
So Duke's the lead character? What about Joe, the eponymous GI?

Good, a really high profile movie for Channing Tatum.
