The prospect for John Hancock, Speed Racer, the Mummy and Beowulf doesnt look too good at all. Even Golden Compass is way below their but it caters to kids anyway. And if Starship Dave is like the only choice for number 20, the rest of next years movies dont bold so well especially when that Cloverfield project is nowhere found there

HULK 2 is 15 which is sad news. Hopefully it picks up when teaser is released. TDK is great position. IJ4 is gonna be huge. Also IRON MAN thanks to the teaser is in top 6 overall and top 5 in male. But females are not that interested so it might hurt it. We will see.

Given the choices for summer movies, casual folks are only familiar with names like the new Batman movie, Indiana Jones, Narnia, and the Mummy. Probably a good portion of them dont know about Iron Man and Speed Racer so its more likely they will have the new Mummy as their 4th of 5th choice so really it isnt that high especially when they tell them if they heard of this movie and who is starring in it if they are interested

I think the list is fine. Only disaster to happen is beowulf. Hulk 2 can pick up if its marketing is good and trailers and stuff are awesome.

In fact the list should have inflated the Mummy closer to the top range given that its a sequel yet stuff like Get Smart ranks higher than that so that should be worrying unless you think its drop off should be like MI3 and RH3 than it would be called decent enough

That is really good for American Gangster, though.

I know i am.

I think the list bodes well for the Top 8 - but honestly its too early for the others.

Except Beowulf which isnt looking promising at all. Magorium will probably be overrun by Bee Movie, Enchanted and Claus - so it might not get further than $50m.

Maybe because it already is. What has Brendan Fraser been doing since the Mummy. What about Rob Cohen after XXX? It sure doesnt spell any success at all. Also look at the options offered in the top 20 and which of the movies should rank higher than the Mummy except for Hulk and Beowulf. Probably none because they dont have a brand name to carry them

the article also stated that Indiana Jones topped the poll by a "huge and wide" margin so I think IJ would have a 50 million or more lead over the 2nd highest grossing movie of 08
And no Wall-E on the top 20 despite Mr Magorium making an appearance in the chart

Not sure Roid - arent those films pre-selected and respondants just rate them 1-5? So maybe Wall-E wasnt even proposed to the respondants.
But agreed that looks like Indy will be some margin ahead of the rest - something like:
Indy IV - $320-$330m Dark Knight - $275m-$290m Prince Caspian - $260-$300m (wider performance window)
Mammia Mia can still do $100m. Batman wont affect it much at all. Perfect counetrprogramming.

That's also pretty good for Charlie Wilson's War, considering it's ahead of Beowulf, Bee Movie and The Golden Compass without a trailer. Good thing it premiered tonight on ET (Damn me for missing it!).

this article did say something.. but not everything.. it's all about the buzz which is something.. some movies haven't started.. just yet.. *although, I'm not sure why 'Wall-E' isn't on the list *

Maybe people aren't interested in it. It is good they will go watch it like Ratatoullie. I mean kids really prefer their animated movies to have live talking humans and animals and stuff not a robot.

That could explain why Pluto Nash 2 aka Starship Dave is doing on the list. If its only 20 movies that were sampled, it could explain its position. Im curious how many movies did they really conduct

Its set for release the week after Memorial Day next year. It's not quite that, but it has the setup of something that will most likely flop. Here's the summary. Quote: Starship Dave is an upcoming comedy film co-written by Bill Corbett (formerly of Mystery Science Theater 3000 fame) and Rob Greenberg. It is the story of a crew of miniature, human-looking aliens who are seeking a way to save their doomed world. Eddie Murphy will play the human spacecraft they travel in (Starship Dave) as well as the ship's captain. Filming is expected to begin in March 2007, as of early June, they were filming scenes at the statue of liberty, in New York City and is to be released by 20th Century Fox.
