Post Damn! Check out the Assault On Precinct 13 reviews!
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1000396 ... t_13/?bc=0

Before these reviews started showing up, I was mildly interested in this movie, at best. I though the premise was interesting and the trailer was nice enough, but I didin't really like the cast and it just smacked of a generic action movie dumped off in the graveyard of the box office season. However, these reviews have made my interest in the film skyrocket. It sounds like a genuine, balls out action flick. I mean, just look at some of these quotes:

"Graphically violent and merciless...refreshingly unpretentious in its goal to entertain and put a jolt in any non-squeamish viewer sick to death of cookie-cutter genre movies."

"Grounded in viscera and spit, it delivers the goods with an uncompromising nastiness."

"Gets a ruthless grip on the audience's throat early and never lets go."

"Good, gory fun."

This is definitely not what I was expecting. It sounds like the awesome action movies of the 80's when things like squib hits still existed. I've also heard some rumblings of a really dark ending, and that's always good. All I know is that a couple of days ago I wasn't sure if I was going to see this one or not in the theaters, and now I am 100% heading to the theaters on Friday night. What about anyone else? Has anyone else been swayed to go see this because of the reviews? I mean, even the negative reviews are relatively positive!

Now I'm swayed against seeing this movie...I don't find mercilessly graphic violence to be entertaining. =;

Uh, didn't even know it was a remake.

Though, should have figure that out from title.

"Good, gory fun."

Must say I don't remember much gore in original, perhaps only just bullet in the head of one kid. And that wasn't bloody at all!

I've read several that have said it's better. James Berardinelli, for example, said it was better than the original.

As of now, it has an impressive 100% cream of the crop rating on RT. It's getting much better reviews than I expected and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Thanks for the reviews, Makeshift. I never really intended to read the reviews despite seeing it as freash in RT but the actual quotes from the reviewers make sound so much better. It will be the first time Im convinced to see a movie because of critics, from no interest to must see

Sounds pretty good. Another possible $15-20 million opener? Maybe... maybe not, though.

From the trailer, the reviews surprisded me.

After seeing the film, I am not surprised as it was actually quite good. And yes Ahmed, Fishburne is quite good in it (although the ending was sort of like the Hannibal movies).

When it was at 75%, it had 12 reviews. Now, it has 57 reviews and still remains at 65% (83% Cream of the Crop). I'd say that's pretty damnnnnn impressive. :razz:
