Is Abbie Cornish the New Bond Girl?
http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=6122MTV spoke to actress Rose Byrne, who says Australian actress and friend Abbie Cornish has landed the female lead in Bond 22. Cornish previously starred in features A Good Year, Candy and Somersault, and TV series "Life Support." Her upcoming features include Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Stop Loss and Bright Star. Directed by Marc Forster, the 22nd installment in the James Bond franchise starts filming in December for a November 7, 2008 release. Daniel Craig returns as 007. Meh choice if true.

I doubt it. Even though the film begins shooting in December, it's still way too early for them to have chosen a Bond girl already. My guess is Foster and the producers will make their final decision in early November, and they'll announce who it is in December.

According to Mi6.co.uk, Cornish deined the rumor saying she doesn't have the part. There's always the chance that the producers told her to shut up and not say anything until they do, but I believe her. I also think the filmmakers are going to go with someone who is a little more established, especially since Foster is involved. I don't think it's going to be someone like Halle Berry (God, I hope not), but like another Eva Green.

I also think the filmmakers are going to go with someone who is a little more established, especially since Foster is involved. I don't think it's going to be someone like Halle Berry (God, I hope not), but like another Eva Green. Evan Green was not an "establish" actress. She was only known from Kingfom of Heaven and Dreamers. 99% of people out there had no idea who she was. Cornish has been in the running for a while. Like Green, she doesn't have a "hot-smoking supermodel body" that most Bond Grls used to have. But she's a good-looking girl and a solid actress (well, I've only seen her in Candy, but she was good in that). I don't think the producers are going to go with a well-known actress at all. The whole point of this franchise is to be more real and less extravagant like the previous Bond's. Hiring a A-list or even B-list actress kind of isn't the route you want to go. Now, I don't think its offical yet. But I remember for CR how there were rumors of Eva Green for a longtime and it was never made offical until like a month before they started filming. When I meant established, I meant someone who has been acting consistently, not well known. Established probably wasn't the best word to use. I think we're pretty much thinking along the same lines though. I said they'll probably go with someone like Green again. Someone who isn't too well known, but has established herself (With filmmakers, not the public) as a decent actress. Cornish doesn't fit the bill.

horrible choice...like it or not, craig looks like hes 40 MINIMUM...getting someone who lookins 20 is bad. Thats why Green worked so well; she looked his age while still lookin good.

Moore with Roberts (And that girl from For Your Eyes Only), Brosnan with Richards, it was dumb. But, you think Eva Green looked like she was in her late 30's?

Cornish has been acting more consistently than Green, and her peformance in Candy was well-recvied. I mean, the only accomplishment Green had was Dreamers, which was a well-recieved performance but not that acclaimed. She also was the WORST part of KOH(which to me was an amazing movie sans Green). Cornish has a better resume than Green does. As excel said, she is younger. But unlike in CR, the "Bond Girl" in Bond 22 will most likley be more of a fling with James and not an actual relationship. The whole point of Eva Green's charecter is to show why Bond becomes such a casanova. So I think having a young "bond girl" is probably better for this one as Bond is supposed to be more of a casanova and not really looking for a real relationship. Plus, it's Hollywood. They can make her look older. Agree on all points. I didnt like Green in KOH eaither but thought she was perfect for CR. Im not into Cornish's looks so i'd prefer she not get the part. But whatever.

I'd be fine with her. She's hot.
