I have seen Transformers....
...questions will be answered.
I'll take one ahead.
Q: Hey Levy, how do you like the canon of Michael Bay so far?
A: He's the worst filmmaker who has ever graced the earth with his existence - not counting Uwe Boll. He made me suffer through more shit than any other director.
So if I'm going to like Transformers it must be really good and if I hate it you fans can always pretend that I wanted to hate it anyway. It's a win-win-situation for you

That's great Levy, I thought you pretty much nailed SM3, so I'll be interested to read your take on Transformers.

Okay, I've seen it now. It is A Tale of two Halves.
The first half is an action comedy which I would give 9/10, the second half is pure sci-fi-action and that's where the movie goes downhill. That part gets only a 3/10 from me. My overall impression is a 7/10.
The effects are awesome, they even use slow-motion which I have seen for the first time because it usually shows the flaws of the effects. However the movie is overlong, especially the showdown which had plenty of action but never pulls you in. The biggest mistake they made was to cave to the fans and let the robots talk. They have cheesy lines that make you vomit. Robots that make patriotic speeches? Come on!!! Noone but Michael Bay would do such crap.
I can't go into more details because I am not really allowed to review it yet, but I'll answer questions

As long as those speeches were ID4 cheesy as opposed to Pearl Harbor cheesy this sounds excellent.

Question: Have we seen the biggest moments in the trailer or does it still have some money shots? No need to describe them if they are. A simple yes/no will be sufficient.

The big money shots - those where they utilised slow-motion - are all in the trailer. Though there is still plenty left. There's only one shot from the big showdown in the trailer and that scene was probably 20 minutes or more...

I'll take number grades or letter grades.
It is Michael Bay's best so far... though that doesn't mean anything.
Bad Boys II 1/10
Pearl Harbor 1/10
Armageddon 2/10
Bad Boys 5/10
The Rock 6/10

1. Yes, at least I didn't notice it.
2. Once. And it is wonderfully done because it's used in a totally different way than you'd expect.

On screen you can see maybe 5 minutes, but it was spread to a far longer time since they cut away to other things in the showdown.
I have no idea what fanbase the Transformers have in the U.S., but I could imagine that it opens to well over 120 Million (5-days) and ends up with 300+ since fans will be pleased and there are lots of things to enjoy

Bumblebee was the most enjoyable since he was the only one who didn't bother to talk (cheesy). In terms of coolness the baddies are of course the best. By the way. If someone's a fan of Megatron his patience will be tested, he comes into the game veeery late.

? there's no such thing. A transforming ghettoblaster, mobile phone and drinks dispenser (and another thing I forgot) are the only non-car/copter/plane transformers

SO I see my patience will be tested with Megatron...
When he does finally appear... is he the greatest bad ass of all time?
