No offense to anyone but Im just wondering why a "re-imagining" of Batman is being made??

Batman already had it's pretty goof feature length film made in 89 and "Batman Returns" was OK also....But the last two Batman installments were horrid and came out less than 10 years ago. Isnt that a little too soon for a re-imagining of Batman??

From what Ive seen so far this film doesnt look that different than the Tim Burton versions. It still looks dark, and Batmans rubber costume looks very similar to the one in the 89 version. This new film has some big stars in it but so did the last Batman movies.

I mean what else are they going to bring to the franchise? Im also not too crazy about the new "robotech" looking batmobile.

I think the most this film has going for it right now is the "Batman" name and the numerous comic fans out there, which will probably insure some revenue in the BO, but unless there's something unique about this Batman movie I doubt it will keep people coming back for repeat viewings.

I know you and I appear to have our differences(In a joking sort of way I hope you know), but I agree with you.. I have no idea why there revisiting this and from everything I've seen of it, it doesn't look all that swift, except I guess if your a hardcore Batman lover and feel the need to be redeemed from the last 2 failures.. :wink:

I saw the trailer tonight, when I saw Oceans 12...I think it looks pretty cool. Very dark.

Well, when the first Batman came out in 89 I was excited because there had never been a real Batman movie (Except for that campy 1960's film). But now I'm not really that excited about this new Batman film... It sounds interesting and Ill probably go see it but it's not really on my "dying to see" list. I could understand if they wanted to restart the series 20 years from now ,but right now I still have the bad taste of the last two Batflicks.

Well the script is supposedly great so im not really worried, seeing as Christopher Nolan is a fantastic director. Tim Burtons Batman was very comic with a dark tone, this Batman is way more serious.

Why is it being revisited?

Because they fucked it up the first time, and if they do it right, they can make alot of money.

I hear ya.. I watched this BATMAN BEGINS trailer and in the end where the guy asked where he was and Bale replied "Here" in that sissy sounding voice he had, I completely laughed at that.. :laugh: Keaton will always be the best Batman..

I saw the Bat man begins trailer and it look so fucking stupid.

I was wondering about that myself, but after seeing the cast and the trailers I am very excited about it. I can't wait for it.

While the two Burton Batman movies were good, they never really explored Batman in from the beginning. Batman(1989) was basically about how the Joker evolved and running down Gothem city, its basically one of the reasons why they paid Nicholson $60 million for the part while Batman himself was playing second bananas to the Joker. Batman Returns was just basically about the Penguin and just showing off how hot Michelle Pfieffer looked in spandex leather.

I believe people are excited about seeing the new Batman because first it has a really good cast, second there hasnt been a Batman movie in 8 years, third some people are just glad that Joel Shumacer isnt directing it, and lastly because it explores the original roots of Batman. Just how would you feel about Donner's Superman if he never explained how he arrived to Smallville as a child and it mainly explored Lex Luther's origins because thats how the first Batman felt like

Joel Schumacher is not being let anywhere near this project.

Let's be honest the last three Batnman movies were not that good, that'sr ight I am saying Batman returns wasn;t that good..granted it looks like The mOna Lisa compared with Batman and Robin, but it was still very meh.

The first Batman was good, but as the above poster said it was all about the Joker. Fans of Batman want a movie that is really about Batman.

Just like fans of Star Wars wanted the prequels. I never get the whole "why is this movie being made question."

Becuase it will make money, even if it sucks (and I am really looking forward to it), it will still make money for the studio.

No idea why they are revisiting it, usually its money based :razz: ... but whatever the reason, it looks cool and im gonna watch it.

People like to re-write history from our 2005 perspective and tell us that Batman (1989) wasn't great. But it was. We thought so at the time. At the time we said "wow, nobody has really ever done Batman like this and captured the darker side of the character...".

Then they take Frank Miller's recent interpretation of Batman and pretend that becomes the "real" Batman and explores his "roots", but it's not.

It's just a "modern" interpretation for a "modern" audience.

It is not the authentic Batman (but with so much baggage over the years, would anybody really want to see the authentic 1930s Bat-detective. I wouldn't think so, I think people would be bored).

Dont tell me that, Im the same age as you :wink: so it really has nothing to do with the old generation vs new generation thing . I thought the first Batman was great, heck its even in my top 20 list but I still think alot of elements are missing from the film. Oh and if you accuse people of trying to rewrite history, why hasnt PJ been accused of remaking a "classic in some peoples mind" King Kong.

I do admit my anticipation for the new Batman isnt as exciting as the first Batman since well as you said it was the first real Batman brought to the movie screen. Batman Begins still looks better than the rest of the 2005 lineup though

I have always preferred Spider-Man, but that's because the first film really clicked with me. I think it's just a matter of hardcore fans. My brother is a huge Batman fan, so he's really looking forward to this. I'll be looking forward to it, too, but it's not in my Top 5 most anticipated next year.
