Annoyance with movies using the same song on goddamn trailer
First Big Fish used Peter Gabriel's Salsbury Hill for their trailer. Now I hear that song was used in In Good Company. I already had to put up with them using Moby's My Sadness in Any Given Sunday and Salton Sea but also an episode of the X-files. When will the movie PR's stop using U2's When the Streets have no Name on every dramatic moment in a movie trailer. But the worst song that they keep using would be Walking on Sunshine in most tv commercials for movies

My pet peeve is when they use a good song in the trailer, but don't put it anywhere in the film. For example, Underworld had the snappy Agent Provocateur song "Red Tape" in the trailer, and on one of the soundtracks, but you won't find it in the film.

I had a friend who made a film once and he was editing the scene where the hero suddenly realizes that everything is going his way (you know, the scene that comes right before the let down part of the film, so the hero can climb back out from the lowest depths)... Anyway, as he was editing this montage sequence, I suggested that he use "Good Times Coming" by Paul McCartney, but he sadly said he couldn't.
"Thanks to Congressional Act 354 of 1985," he told me, "All happy montage sequences must contain Katrina and the Waves' 'Walking on Sunshine.' There is just no fighting that powerful Katrina and the Waves lobby.
You know how it is in Washington -- Big Oil ... Big Tobacco ... Big Katrina.

I thought the Katrina and the Wave's song Walking on Sunshine was only used in two categories
Parents raising a kid: Look Whos Talking, Jersey Girl
Yuppie on the move: Secret of My Success, Babyboom

They probably already have the soundtrack ready in release before they released the trailer. Some movies dont even have a soundtrack till they get released on home video. Speed is an example

The most overused of all time is that "Dragon -- Bruce Lee" theme. Used for every single uplifty schmaltz trailer.
But to be fair, most trailers come out before the music for the movie is written. Exception: RotK -- made for an awesome trailer btw.

yup .. i've come to the conclusion that the minas tirith theme was the best out of all the themes in LoTR, hell even fellowship and Rohan themes.

Solsbury HIll should be banned from beingusedinany trialer ever again, it was also usedin vanilla Sky if I remember.
I like Peter Gabriel and all, but no more in the trailers.
Also I NEVER, EVER want to hear All Star by Smash Mouth again, its bad enough I had to fast forward past the credits of Shrek, but then they used that god awful song in the orginal Shrek 2 teaser and it was in about 7 films.
Have some bloody orginality!

I also have a very big problem with songs they use in trailers but in the actual movie.
Two Towers
Return of the King
Kill Bill
It REALLY REALLY pisses me off!
As for same songs used twice in different trailer... I don't here it as opften as u guys do obviosuly cuz you're so pissed at it.
I guess sometimes I just don't realize it. But that's besides the sunshine and all star song.... those ahve to be banned!!
I disagree with the Salsbury song though.... it goes SOO good with 'In Good Company'

Ya, I aree with you. Happened with TTT too, though I didnt mind TTT's score, the trailer music trumped everything that actually was in the film.
Oh, and thanks for providing me with the name of that tune! I've been wondering what it was called for ages!
