Post Kill Bill, over-rated?
Since Kill Bill Volume 1 was released everybody seems to love them, even the dissapointing Kill Bill Volume 2, i dont understand this, they are clearly not as good as Tarantino's other films like Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs.

The film, firstly has a woman hero, which is good, but could probably only be gotten away with in a Tarantino film, lol, but i dont like it too much, its totally unrealistic. Also, what annoys me is that these Kill Bill films are denting Tarantino's reputation, in my opinion anyway, because i used to think of him as a guy that made bad ass cult adult films. Now he is pretty much turned into a pussy, especially with the release of Kill Bill, they could have made it a better woman to be Uma.

Also, Uma Thurman, what is his obsession with this lady, she is a fucking bloke!!!! And she didnt fit this role very well at all. Dont get me wrong, i do like them, i own them, but i just think they are about 'C' territory, nothing more.

So what im asking is, why do you like this film?

While I wasn't happy at all with Kill Bill Vol 1, second part is really great, and for me prolly better than Pulp Fiction or Jackie Brown.

Dogs are still on top though.

Im quite the opposite. I enjoyed Volume 1 because of the sheer fun, action and campiness. V2 wasnt as good but it was only highlighted by Pai Mei. What I don't understand is all the people raving about how Uma and David Carradine deserve an oscar when I see nothing that extrodinary about their performance. Same thing with Tom Cruise in Colleteral. Even Pam Grier's character in Jackie Brown was better written and acted than Uma's character in Kill Bill

I agree with you.

The only reason i occasionally say that Tom Cruise should get the Oscar for Collateral is because i love the film and the more Oscars it gets the more happier ill be, but you are correct, theres nothing special about, because all his roles are well acted.

I know, I was trying to make a funny.

The first one is fun, it has no substance, mearly an exercise in style. it works, is campy fun, with a soundtrack that works perfectly in the film.

Persoanlly I like volume two better, because it were the story lies.

Personally i think volume 1 is better, especially with a soundtrack like that, but overall i just dont see why people like them so much.

They are not the best pictures ever, or even Tarentino's best films, but they are good. Reservoir Dogs remains my favorite tarentino followed by Jackie Brown.

Kill Bill is Tarantino's best work. I love Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction a lot (both in my top 100, didn't care for Reservoir Dogs that much) but I just think Kill Bill is one amazing film. Ya know, I do get that question a lot, "What's so good about Kill Bill?" It's all in opinion. 2 of my friends hated Kill Bill but call Resident Evil Apocalypse a cinematic masterpiece... So ya know, opinions.

The Kill Bill movies are fantastic. When I saw the first one I thought it was going to be a typical action pic, but it blew me away!

well Jackie Brown was the best by all measures of the Tarantino films I've seen, but aside from that, I thought Kill Bill was excellent. I liked both films better than Pulp Fiction. I am like bABA in that I liked the first one because it was fun but the second one improved even upon that. Kill Bill Vol. 2 was excellent. Tarabtino will get a Best director Nod for his efforts this year in much the same way Lynch and altman got them a few years back.

I thought Kill Bill Vol 1 was easily the best of the two volumes, but I never thought it was great. I found Kill Bill Vol 2 to be a real snooze fest, and I was largely bored with it. As RoidRage (or whatever he calls himself these days!) says, I also thought Carradine's performance was way overblown.

In retrospect, the disappointment of #2, tainted #1 a little bit and brought the whole series down for me. Neither are anwhere near as good as Pulp Fiction, and I think Tarantino will never come close to matching that one.

On another note, I can't stand to listen to Tarantino talk. He's got a weird vibe about him - the kind of vibe that Michael Jackson gives off. He's very creepy and disturbing.

Despite Vol. 2 being on my top 10 of 2004 list, Vol. 1 was a bit better. I thought it felt better to watch. But, I only think Vol. 2 is a tad overrated, because everyone who loves it, thought it was even better than the first.

The Kill Bill films are not Tarantino's best, but they are still among the best being released this past year or so. I don't think they are overrated; it's not like it's going to get any Oscars. Hardly anyone has them on their Top Ten lists of the year. They were good films, well made and enjoyable, and what's wrong with that?

Its just that whenever people talk about them, they praise them so much it makes me angry, i picked up on it that all.

No, I don't think they are that overrated. They were both great films, imo. 2 moreso than 1 for me, because of the story and David C.'s acting. Uma was great for the part, and the Supporting performers did well. The one thing that maybe could have been toned down a notch was the gore. I mean, how much blood can there be?

Best part of the Kill Bill Series was:

Lucy Lui

The abscence of this beauty, was probably why Volume 2 sucked as much ass as it did.
