I think the producers behind these two films are awfully retarded, seriously. First of all, Da Vinci Code 2?... are you kidding me, though honestly I doubt that'll stick for long. Second of all, Goldsman again? Did they not notice when his screenplay single handidly created a critically smashed film? God, why? And oh yeah, they're also paying him 4 mil to pen this... he should be thanking them for giving him another chance, not receiving such a ridiculous salary.

They didn't rename it to "The Da Vinci Code 2"

Where did it say in Deadline Hollywood's article that it's being renamed?

I doubt that even any one in Hollywood would call this Da Vinci Code 2 haha. I think the novel is well known enough for it to survive with its current title - which is actually quite good.
DVC was mediocre and this will probably be just as bad if it has the same team behind it.

Well if this movie has more action, then it could do better. I have read that there is more action and suspense in Angels and Demons than the DVC.

There's a lot of action in DVC in the first place... in the book. Goldsman wrecked what was a great story.

We must have read two different books. While I agree that the movie is (somewhat) worse than the already overrated source material, if there is something that both had in common is the lack of action. Though the book had more interesting and elaborate puzzles that just don't translate well on-screen.
That said, Angels and Demons is better. It would have been great if not for the stupid over-the-top ending. However, it is pathetic to pay anyone $4 million to adapt such a book. Heck, even I could adapt it.

For example, the car-chase/escape in Paris was very tense in the book, whereas in the movie it fell flat.
