As sure as locked for Supporting Acting wins. Murphy is unbelievable and Hudson, well, she steals the film.

In terms of how story oriented it was, was it closer to Chicago or Moulin Rouge? And are the songs sung on stage, or with the storyline from the characters mouths?

Different type of film. Dreamgirls is What's Love Gotta Do With It without all the choking. Much larger canvas and scope.

That's the rub my friend. The first half of the film features singing that's on stage. There's a crack in the earth's crust when characters stopped signing on stage and started sing-talking. Some of the audience took the leap. Quite a few didn't, including a certain brown bastard.

Arsi's not allowed to answer any questions in regards to Dreamgirls as he liked Barnyard.

I can't figure a scenario where she doesn't win. Maybe if the awards were cancelled.
My only question at this point is will she capitalize on the win or fade away? I'm rooting for the former.

And what is it about Hudson's performance that has her Oscar already clinched?
I presume that it's more than just the singing...

Does Baba like R&B music?

not particularly no.
the acting was good all around but people should win oscars based upon acting, not their singing. hudson's performance was good but not oscar worthy. hell, shes not even around for a period of time in the film.

Her best work to date and worthy of a nomination. No win but still, a nom is the win for her.

Her character suffers the highest highs and the lowest lows. It's the sort of stuff Oscar voters love. She's sassy and out of control and quite funny.
