 CASINO ROYALE: What Went Wrong???
Well?? For me, it was a good BOND Formula type of story, but Daniel Craig's Ugly and simply was wrong for the part and Judi Dench is an Old Bag that never should've been considered for this movie.. Couple of wink wink's in the movie like the ocean scene which harkened back to the Older BOND movie's, but with no Gadget's and the thing's we've come to love from the other BOND movie's, I'm afraid that this movie will be extremely frontloaded with a dencent weekend opening as expected, but predictably falls off the planet in it's 2nd weekend.. It's a little overly long and should've been shortend by 10 minutes or so and nice call on having BOND drive a FORD..

I loved it, though the first hour is a complete waste through and through.

Nothing went wrong. It's a stellar accomplishment from beginning to end.

Personally, I think its stupid for a "What Went Wrong" thread to be created for a movie unless it turns out to be a financial disappointment in some way, be it opening weekend or overall.
However, BKB, what your statement equates to is "I did not like this movie." Which is all well and good and you are entitled to that opinion but that doesn't mean anything "went wrong". It simply means that you didn't like the movie, nothing more nothing less.

Wrong forum. When a "What went wrong" thread is created in the box office forum, it should refer to a financial disappointment, but what's being discussed here is BKB's unique perspective on its quality.

Actually, I'll bet that it doesn't make as much as what we initially think it will this weekend and after this weekend, it will crash and burn.. And I didn't hate it and thought it had a good story, just the wrong actor for the movie and I feel many folks will feel the same to outside the critic's world....

Daniel Craig has his own level of charm and his mug means different things to each person.
Judi Dench is not an old bag.
I kind of thought that was a ford he was driving. Bond is just being economical.
Casino Royale was overall a good entry into the bond series and i'm looking forward to the next.

it was a brilliant movie... easily better than all brosnan flicks, all dalton flicks, and DEFINITELY all moore flicks.
to say its the best bond ever is a stretch, but it was good.

It is not even worth debating with you. You set yourself up to hate it. You knew you were going to. You didn't give Craig a chance so of course...you hated it.

Why must we discuss this with every movie BKB had his prejudices against/for it from the get go? Just for once I'd like to see him change his opinion after he saw the finished product. Kindly put: He's a man who sticks to his principles

There have been one or two he set himself up to hate and then liked...I think?
Heh, I actually didn't think I'd like it, I loathed Die Another Die (my first Bond viewing) so I was expecting this to be in the same vein. I didn't think it was the greatest movie ever but I did enjoy it.

I'm thinking the same thing...??? BKB is focusing more on his opinion. In fact if were going on 'stated' opinions, its a 'What Went Right?'. There is by far many more positive reviews everywhere I look then negative. If we go financially its a very good start. Its a reboot with a new kind of face for the character with 20? films in the bank. Its sure not going to be easy.
At this point financially, you gotta compare this with each time a new actor took over the roll and how that film did.
I cant find all the info but heres what I got from the-numbers.com
------
Dr. No - $16,100,000 1963 final US gross
On Her Majesty's Secret Service - $22,800,000 1969 final US gross
Live and Let Die - $35,400,000 1973 final US gross
The Living Daylights MGM Action $11,051,284 1,728 $6,395 $11,051,284 opening weekend 1987/ $51,185,000 final US gross
Goldeneye MGM Action $26,205,007 2,667 $9,826 $26,205,007 opening weekend 1995 / $106,429,941 final US gross
Casino Royale - (est.) $14,750,000 opening day / $35-40mil opening weekend 2006 / ? $120-150 final US gross...
I see NO 'what went wrong' with this movie......

I get so sick and tired of being accused that I don't see movie's I claim to see and if I would've gushed over this movie, you wouldn't of given it a second thought so have a bowl of Kellog's Shut the Fuc* Up Cereal.. Furthermore, I said the story for this movie was GOOD Douche: GOOD, Not BAD, GOOD.. The only thing I pictured while watching it was Pierce Brosnan in the role and how he would've done it so much better and pictured Craig in the role of the Villain.. If anything, I thought Craig was better than Timothy Dalton, but not Moore or Brosnan.. Deal with it..

This movie won't make it to 120-150 Million as you have projected.. It was a guarantee that it would open well cause it's BOND and the curiousity factor is there to see what this new guy is like, but quite a few folks I know won't give this a chance cause of BOND having Blond hair and blue eyes and that's NOT how BOND should look.. The concept of this thread in "What Went Wrong" will eventually make it's way back to the Box Office Forum like it should've been and stayed and consider this thread I made a "Premonition" as to how I feel it will perform..
