I thought the first film was hysterical, as is the show. I'll be there

Of course the TV series is a comedy classic, but I disagree about the first movie -- it flat out sucked! They re-did many of the bits from the TV show, only broader and stupider for an American audience. I hope the new movie hails back to the original Brit comic spirit...

I wouldnt go that far, it was more a great fish out of water comedy, The middle finger bit was hysterical for me. And remember it only made 42 million in the US and made over 200 million WW.

Scratch what I just said, I didnt elaborate enough, the film takes the best parts about the show and just felt very funny and being only 10 when I saw it, I loved it, it was like an Abbott and Costello film, different enough to be great using familiar stuff.

I was 18 when I saw it and I thought it was hilarious. It's almost scary what you can remember when you associate it with a movie.
It was late in the summer of '98. I can remember the other movie I rented on the same night (I Know What you Did Last Summer), where and what I ate for dinner (a restaurant called Arni's and sandwich called an Hawaiian Sunrise-which was an open-faced combination of ham and pineapple on rye bread); of course the people I saw it with (my two younger sisters, mom, dad, and grandma); how I'd spent my time earlier in the day (grumpily writing thank you cards at gunpoint to people who'd attended my graduation party back in early May); and what I did the next morning (went to an out of town mall with my mom and great grandpa (RIP) ).
And yet I couldn't tell you what I had for dinner last Thursday to save my life...

Bean was not that good, unfortunately.
For a good film starring Rowan Atkinson, check out Johnny English. It's kind of kid-ish, but I think it's hilarious.

Now, I thought that was really bad compared to Mr. Bean. I was excited too because I love Atkinson, but I thought it was very tired and just not funny at all other than Malkovich.

LOL, i looked at #2 and I think they should use that poster in america complete with the foreign text being used. All the audience needs to know is it's Mr. Bean.
