 Actors who played Musicians We dont get many of these questions but there seems to be alot of actors playing musicians this year and next. We already have Kevin Spacey playing Bobby Darrin and Jamie Foxx playing Ray Charles. Next year Jaquin Phoenix is playing Johnny Cash and Renee Zelwenger is playing Janis Joplin. Here I will try to put a list of as many actors who played musicians here
Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison in the Doors
Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn in Coal Miner's Daughter
Gary Oldman as Sid Vicious in Sid And Nancy
Lou Diamond Phillips as Richie Valens in La Bamba
Don Chedle as Sammy Davis Jr in the Rat Pack
Gary Busey as Buddy Holly in the Buddy Holly Story
Kurt Russell as Elvis in Elvis
Tom Hulce as Wolfgang Amadeus in Amadeus
Geoffrey Rush as David Helfgott in Shine
Who do I have missing? As for the most difficult portrayal to play, I would give it to Val Kilmer for the Doors
