Post The American Gangster's (Ridley Scott) cast additions
"Chiwetel Ejiofor and the rappers Common, TI and RZA will star in American Gangster, the Ridley Scott-directed drama for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment.

Ted Levine, John Ortiz and Yul Vazquez have also been set to round out a cast topped by Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. Brian Grazer will produce with Scott.

The Steve Zaillian-scripted drama revolves around the empire of Harlem drug kingpin Frank Lucas, which involved smuggling heroin in the bodybags of U.S. soldiers killed in Vietnam."

What an awesome cast...

Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ted Levine...written by Steve Zaillian (!) and directed by Ridley Scott.

Sounds like Oscar bait and potential good grosser.

I never heard of this one. Sounds great. Washington and Crowe together in a Scott film could mean big things. I take it it will be out for late 07 which would be perfect for it! Set in the 60s/70s, Vietnam, drugs, Harlem....this will be interesting!

Training Day's Antoine Fuqua, I think.

Virtuousity wasn't only so-so. But I expect this to be fantastic. Hopefully Chiwetel Ejiofor won't be wasted like he was in Inside Man.

Probably the only weak link right now is Steve Zaillian actually ( well and TI, but he'll probably die in the first 2min ) only REALLY good thing he wrote was the screenplay for Schindlers List, everything after Schindlers List that he wrote hasnt been anything special, maybe if All the Kings Men which he directed and wrote the screenplay for ends up being good i'll have more faith, but the way the studios are handling that film it seems they dont have a lick of faith in it.

I enjoyed most of the Pazzi & Lecter in Italy storyline, everything else is kinda shite. The scenes with Lecter and Clarice cant compare with Lambs, even Red Dragon had better chemistry with Lecter and Graham.
