1. Animal House

I didn't watch this. Thank God.

Shrek is the third funniest movie ever made. The Wedding Singer is 7th. Napoleon Dynamite is 14th. And on it goes. Let this all sink in.

The biggest crime? Dr. Stangelove is 51st, and is the OLDEST MOVIE ON THE LIST (and, is also, other than fucking Clerks, the only black and white movie on the list; I guess a movie needs coor to be funny). In other words, the following people never made a movie funnier than such laugh-riots as MEET THE FOCKERS, FATHER OF THE BRIDE or LEGALLY BLONDE:
The Marx Brothers
Charlie Chaplin
Buster Keaton
Billy Wilder
Ernst Lubitsch
Preston Sturges
Howard Hawks
Cary Grant
Frank Capra
Anyone making movies outside of America
I could go on.....

I understand that this list was created to bring in the VH1 viewers. But still, how can someone be responsible for this and still sleep at night? The AFI lists always leave a lot to be desired, but this really makes one appreciate them.....

What the hell?Waynes World? That movie is so outdated
im glad they had the Naked Gun series there which is so much better than the Scary movies
Glad they included Kingpin which was extremely overlooked
In future generations people will finally recognize the genius of Zoolander and Kingpin

And since this movie is so heavily weighted toward recent (not to mention Steve Martin) movies, I have to ask: Where the fuck is Bowfinger?

Saddles and Airplane should be 1, 2.

No Scary Movie and girl next door? :(

The list is blah, some good choices there like South Park and Zoolander (though i'd rate it higher) and I think Napoleon Dynamite is overrated.

Odd list.

Meet the Fockers, #25? It shouldn't even be on the list.

Ferris Bueller should be higher. And Office Space. And Anchorman.

Comedy is relative, though, so it's hard to judge.

9 to 5 inevitably shows up on any list of this kind, and i find it baffling. 9 to 5 isn't funnier than anything. Well, maybe Night and Fog. Maybe.

They might as well have just picked titles out of a hat and assigned numbers to them. Well actually, I'm guessing that's pretty much what they did because even though they are good films, Shrek and The Wedding Singer shouldn't even be in the top 100. The same goes with many others like Napoleon Dynamite, Meet the Fockers, et cetera, but there are too many to mention.

Talk about a bad attempt to cater to the 25 and under demographic. I'm 18 and even I know that list is a piece of shit.

Dont know if they were really trying to cater to the 25 and under group, well maybe the first 5 were but I also see them trying really hard to appease the 50+ group with Arthur, 9 to 5 and Moonstruck which were crap anyhow
If I had my choice the Naked Gun movies, Kingpin, Zoolander, Steve Martin flicks would make my top 20

Terrible list. Shrek at number three is mind numbing.

Airplane! should have been number one.

Likewise, where the hell is Freaked? This line alone makes it worth being on the list--

Ortiz the Dog Boy: Twelve milkmen IS theoretically possible. Thirteen is silly. Looks like there's one milkman too many, Coogan!

I actually like/love a good majority of the movies on their list, but their ratings are wonky.

The Wedding Singer at #7 is the weirdest thing ever, mostly because the movie is a better romance than comedy.

The fact that City Slickers ranks higher than anything is a travesty. Its not even really a comedy but an adventure flick
I also notice no Bad Santa on the list

I guess I'm wondering why Meet the Fockers is supposedly funnier than Dr. Strangelove, Young Frankenstein and A Fish Called Wanda. I mean, not even the original movie is #25...the sequel is.

I liked it just fine, but...no.
