I think in the case of most films, they mistook scary for "disturbing". Se7en, Silence of the Lambs, Texas Chainsaw Massacre are disturbing, but not even slightly scary.
As I clicked on the link, I knew this inept piece of overrated crap that is The Exorcist would appear on there. Bleh.
Also, it is a very predictable list. Very very predictable.

The inclusion of Lost Highway makes me want to have this list's babies.
Seriously, Lynch is continuously making some of the scariest shit out there, and it's perpetually ignored by most horror fans because it's not straight forward scares.
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me is particularly terrifying.

I'm pretty sure they made the top 30 best horror movies ever when that awful Haunting remake came out.

The exorcist is my #1 horror film of alltime but i admit its not everyones cup of tea.
IMO The Shining and Rosemary's baby are the most overrated ever.

Excellent list. Love the inclusions of Halloween, The Exorcist(it IS brilliant  ), Psycho, Jaws, Carrie, Nightmare, TCM, The Shining, Silence of the Lambs, ... damn... that could be my list!

What i really dont like about that list is that they include Seven and Silence of the Lambs.
Aliens is missing on that list.
It`s far more scarier and more of a horror movie then those two.
Also , i would put The Ring in there ( to me , the best horror movie of the 21st century )
Switch Seven with Aliens and Silence of the Lambs with The Ring and that could be my list.
