Post TRUE ROMANCE: Hands Down, Tarrantino's BEST..
Now I'm as big a fan as anyone else when it comes to Quentin Tarrantino and the Awesome films he's made, everything from PULP FICTION to RESERVOIR DOGS, but 1 film that I totally forgot about that he made was on at 3:00 AM on one of many HBO Channels I have and it was TRUE ROMANCE.. Talk about 1 gritty, GRITTY movie with quite the stellar cast including Val Kilmer, Patricia Arquette, Christian Slater, Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken etc, and the list goes on, plus, it has probably one of the best, if not, the BEST Gunfight I've seen in a movie in a long long time surpassing even Michael Mann's "HEAT" with it's L.A Shootout toward the end.. The whole premise was simply AWESOME and you know what?? It's on again tonight at 9:45 PM on HBO, so sit your ass in front of the TV and watch it.. Oh, and SUPERMAN RETURNS is going to suck.. Just thought I'd throw that in for extra measures..

No he didn't, but he did write it and that does count for something. I don't think it is his best, but certainly a close second. Pulp Fiction is in a league on it's own, in my opinion, so saying that True Romance is a close second still makes it a fantastic film.

Oh, and btw...I too think Superman Returns is going to suck.

If you were a huge Tarentino fan as you claim to be, you would of known in the first place that he didnt direct it. And yes its probably Tony Scott's best work

Are you implying that BKB actually checks his facts before he posts? Did you forget about the "urban Airplane!" thread from last week?

Lay off BKB, he said it was a Tarantino film, he never said he directed it. :disgust:

Well if over 50% of the people who saw Hostel thought it was a Tarantino film yet he had barely anything to do with it, then BKB can say True Romance is a Tarantino film since he wrote it.

I dont think it's the best thing he was involved with, but it was great. The scene with Hopper and Walker is one of the best scenes ever in a movie. " Now tell me am I lying? Because you, you're part eggplant "

There is a big difference between getting some financing and some recognition for the film and writing the damn thing. True Romance is written by Tarantino, that makes it a Tarantino film.

Umm did I say anything to make it seem as though im saying the two things are practically the same? You know what im saying? Or does it seem like what im saying itsnt making much sense because of the thing im saying?

Anyways thats why I said it's okay for BKB to call it a Tarantino film, it's more of a Tarantino film then Hostel and everyone thinks thats a T film.

It's good - but better than Reservoir Dogs - I don't think so...

I realize that after I looked at the cover again.. He wrote the story and Tony Scott Directed it and it still kicked ass.. My mistake.. There's not 1 scene in this movie I can think of that stands out any better than the rest of it.. I thought the scenes with Michael Rappaport were funny as hell and Tom Sizemore nearly losing his mind when Bronsan Pinchont was wired in the elevator on their way up to the Penthouse made me :hahaha: my ass off..

Love the movie, though I think Pulp Fiction is ultimately better. Still though, probably in my top 15 of all time.

... Or you all can go see Badlands, which True Romance more than borrowed the score from....

I think im the only media student in known existence who does not praise the ground this man walks upon.
He is not a great storyteller and his originality feels horribly calculated and pretentious.

Unfortunately not. I've ran into quite a few. You can generally spot them in a crowd. The nervous type, terrible clothing, a shabby lot, they use phrases like "horribly calculated and pretentious."

So not only did I find this to be Quentin Tarrantino's FINEST, I went to BEST BUY today to purchase it.. When I got their, I went straight for the "Action Catagory" cause to me, it was basically an Action film with hints of Drama.. No can do.. It wasn't in the Action Catagory and at that point, I began to go somewhere else, when I thought to myself: What are the chances that with the title being "TRUE ROMANCE" That BEST BUY would put it under, of all things, the Romance Catagory??? :-k Sure enough, I went to the Drama/Romance Aisle and there it was: The 2-Disc Deluxe UNRATED DIRECTOR'S CUT of TRUE ROMANCE with Deleted Scenes and Extended Scenes along with an Alternate Ending.. 2 Thumbs Up for this movie :2thumbsup: and Thumbs Down for the Employees at BEST BUY for putting this under Drama/Romance..
